Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe booked through booking.com and it isn’t clear on their page that if you book three nights the island will organise transfer from the airport to island as an included, even in the half board package. Otherwise it’s an extra $500USD. We paid our own way there (hiring a local boatsman) in the end and then wanted to stay a third night anyway so missed out on that offer. If it could be made clearer for everyone that would be helpful. Otherwise all brilliant.
The staff are amazing - we felt exceptionally well looked after. The rooms are gorgeous and elegantly done. The pool and views are beautiful. The snorkelling, paddle, the gym and tennis are included in the half board package and all are superb. The beaches are gorgeous. Having a private pool to yourself on days when it is a little cooler is great as the water remains warmer than the main pool. Definitely book the Chef’s dinner - it may not be clearly advertised but it happens every few nights and it’s a lovely experience. Having bikes allocated to everyone is a huge plus and so being able to cycle different places was great. We were two adults and an 11 year old and everyone would love to return.

The VVIP Premium service. We were upgraded to the top of the range Lagoon suite. Our Butler Edwin made sure we had everything we needed. Overall staff were excellent, friendly and professional. This is by far the best vacation we ever had.

PortugalThis is, without a doubt, the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The attention to detail throughout my stay was extraordinary, turning this trip into an unforgettable experience. A special mention to the welcome drinks personally offered by the management (GRAZIE MILLE, Amine!) —a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the exceptional service to come. I was assigned a dedicated butler (THANK YOU, Kennedy!), and I can’t praise him enough. He went above and beyond in every way, ensuring I was always comfortable and had everything I needed. Truly outstanding service! The room was absolute perfection—elegant, spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully designed to blend luxury with local charm. Every element, from the linens to the lighting, felt curated for a flawless experience. The surroundings are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen—nature at its most breathtaking. And when night fell, the African sky came alive. There’s something magical about it that made me feel deeply connected and completely at peace—like being home in the most unexpected way. Honestly, this hotel deserves 7 stars, not just 5. Every part of my stay was exceptional: - World-class service - Personalized attention - Luxurious and comfortable rooms - Stunning natural beauty I will definitely be coming back. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s an experience I’ll never forget.

PolandThis hotel represents the highest quality. Everything is new and well maintained. The villas are spacious and beautifully designed. Still, what makes it really special is the service and people that take care of you there. Thanks to their approach you can really enjoy the holiday knowing that they will remember not only your name but also your individual needs like for example diet. Here I would like to mention our individual assistant Beno who was the perfect organizer of our stay at this hotel. Thanks to him I feel we used every hour of our stay and tried everything we wanted. I recommend this place to everybody who wants to rest away from the crowds.

United KingdomIdyllic, serene, luxurious island resort with incredibly friendly staff, from the General Manager, Mr. Serrour and our host, Samuela, all the way down; all of whom went above and beyond to make our stay uniquely personal, memorable, enjoyable and relaxing. Some of the most fantastic Sunsets to enjoy as well. This all truly made it a one-of-a-kind stay and one we'll never forget surpassing all our expectations. Great choice of restaurants and food led by the amazing executive chef - Chef Giovanni, who was kind enough to create some incredible dining experiences for us. The Swahili breakfast is a must try. Also a special mention to Ju and William as well. Sad to leave and definitely hope to visit again sooner rather than later - I couldn't recommend a stay here enough! Thank you to all at Bawe - we wish you all the very best going forward!

Sri LankaPeaceful Paradise in Zanzibar
Bawe Island in Zanzibar is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by its serene beauty and tranquil atmosphere. The island, just a short boat ride from the main island of Zanzibar, offers an idyllic escape with its pristine white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and lush tropical surroundings. The accommodations were nothing short of spectacular. We stayed at a charming beachfront resort where the service was impeccable. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile, making us feel right at home. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and offered stunning views of the ocean. The highlight of our stay was the island’s natural beauty. The food was also a major standout. Fresh seafood, flavorful local dishes, and a variety of international options were all beautifully prepared. Every meal felt like a celebration of the region’s rich culinary heritage. Bawe Island is a peaceful paradise that offers a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or just a quiet place to unwind, this island is a top choice. It truly exceeded all our expectations, and we can't wait to return!

SpainThe only problem is that I could not stay longer... but hopefully I'll come back!
I could say many things about this amazing property, starting with the beautiful rooms and the constant assistance by its super kind staff but to be honest I was particularly impressed by the location that is a real wonder of nature: this place is a paradise. I was upgraded in a Suite and I could enjoy one of the best sunset I can remember in recent times, not to mention the pristine beach. One special mention to the chef who assisted us personally and prepared some unforgettable Italian "spaghetti ai frutti di mare"!

SwitzerlandIf it was possible to translate heavenly holiday into a place that would be Bawe Island. The island is beautiful, the hotel is amazing and the staff is superb. Every little detail is though to make sure your stay is memorable. You’ll not feel a guest you’ll feel as being part of a group of friends where everyone cares for each other. Special thanks to Morris that from the first minute ensured everything ( and I mean every little detail) was taken care. The floating breakfast and the evening dinner at the beach will forever be in our memories. Jamal, Kefa, Morris, Grace, Eva Steven, and Apia, Mr Mehd, Rahma, Alphonce, Sadick, Mohammed, Magreth, Aisha, Maryam, Mussa and Samuela took care of us like no other - THANK YOU so much for making this stay memorable!
