How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hostel was cozy and the atmosphere was chill. Location just good, only few steps from the MRT station.

Verified reviewThe location is convenient. There is place to lounge and you can have your own snacks, too. It was a lovely place!
It is hot in the corridors and bathroom. When you enter the room it is pure bliss because there is an aircon!

Verified reviewCompared to what was mentioned on one of the pages of the site, there is no breakfast served. Yet, you have access to a kitchen for some microwave cooking and a fridge on the pleasant terrace. There are 2 common spaces in the hostel and a café downstairs where you can have a coffee. There is also an easy access to a laundry machine and a dryer. To me, the location is very convenient as you have an immediate access to the MRT station, Maji square (where a lot of events happen) and a number of restaurants and coffee shops.
The hostel is situated on the corner of a busy street. Keep in mind there will be traffic noise.

Verified reviewReally nice and new. There are really nice common areas (2nd and 5th floor). Everything new and nicely furnished. Great area with many restaurants and shops and MRT station right behind the corner. Comfortable beds (havent slept that good for a very long time, it was difficult to get up and start to do sth) with light and power sockets. Clean new bathrooms.
Most of the people staying were locals with no english, so very difficult to socialize. Not sure if just my bad luck or it is just more popular for locals. No elevator, walking to 4-5 floor gets annoying, especially if you forget sth in the room and need just walk it up again :)

Verified reviewMuch better than any European hostel. Great service and attention to detail. They deliver on everything they promise. The coffee at the cafe is top notch, loved their light roast. And the uber cool house cats are gems
Only wish the coffee shop at the bottom was open till 9pm instead of 6pm (this is common across all coffee shops outside but still), it would make this place perfect. And if coffee could option at 8 or 9am instead of current 11am.

Verified reviewVery clean and comfortable. Amazing and cosy lounging areas. Clean toilets. Nice laundry area. Comfortable beds. Good location. Nice tenants and quiet roommates. Felt very safe and taken care of as a female. They even change the bedsheets for me when I requested. Nice big windows with good view - spacious room that makes it easy to keep my stuff. Keep it up!
No lifts. And reception closes early and opens late.

Verified reviewGreat location. Close to Metro station. Comfortable bed.
The staircase from 2nd floor to 4th floor has no hand rail. It is not very friendly to the traveler with heavy luggage.

Verified reviewI was at a mixed dorm and still felt safe. You get your own locker, although it's quite small but great for solo travellers. It's also nice to wake up with the two cats downstairs, great start of the day. Yuanshan Station is literally a minute or less from the hostel and bus stops everywhere. There's a park right beside the hostel and Ubike which is great for strolling around.
It would be great if the lockers were a little bigger.

Verified reviewGreat location in charming Yuanshan area. Felt like a perfect spot to be. I only wish I’d stayed longer. The hostel is clean and bright. Staff was helpful and friendly. Perfect place to stay and great value. Bedding was clean and felt surprisingly high quantity.
The bed was extremely hard so if you don’t like that I guess that’s a negative aspect. Pretty unsocial vibe.

Verified reviewCozy, nice little hostel, just a seven-minute MRT ride from Taipei Main Station, within a few minutes of Yuanshan metro station and easy reach of convenience stores, restaurants, and a night market, surrounded by lively streets and a lovely park for a beautiful balance of greenery and city life. The hostel was clean, and the rooms were spacious. The dorm room has big windows, whereas the other one only has a smaller window, be warned. The bathrooms were also clean and easy to use, as well as equipped with hygiene products (sanitary pads, dental floss, cotton buds) and hairdryers. The hostel also provides slippers (good quality ones that won't melt in the shower, but you don't get to take them away), which are also numbered so it's easy to find yours. It's a small detail, but I was definitely glad not to have to guess like it happens every so often. There are two common spaces: a café on the second floor and a room on the roof on the fourth floor. Depending on which one you choose, there's plenty of variation between couches, chairs with tables, beds, etc. There's also plenty of entertainment material (travel guides, coloring books, a guitar, etc.). I absolutely loved hanging out on the roof, it's a comfortable space with an amazing atmosphere. The café downstairs (first floor) closes after 6 P.M., and you can also stay there both during opening hours and later. There are also two lovely cats, which was a definite plus for me, but if you have allergies, know that they roam around the café quite a bit. I personally prefer smaller hostels and quieter environments, so if you're looking for a typical youth hostel to meet big groups, this is not it. What it is, is a great place to rest and relax, with good company if you go out of your way to talk to people, and the opportunity to be by yourself and unwind otherwise. Definitely explore the surroundings and see a few snippets of daily life and Taipei events at Expo Park.
Washing machine and dryer are coin-activated and quite expensive, and they both need a lot of 10NTD coins, which not everyone has lying around. The girl at the desk was lovely and broke my bigger banknote, but considering the above-average price of the hostel, it would've been nice to have laundry be more accessible. This wasn't a problem for me, and the hostel warns you very clearly, but this property does NOT have an elevator, so be prepared to take the stairs. If you have very heavy luggage, be ready, and unfortunately it doesn't seem disability-friendly at all.
