Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was limited space in the female dorms to put larger sized luggage. The aircon also didn’t fully reach the beds at the end of the room
Super convenient - right next to Taipei main station. The common areas were beautifully designed, comfortable and had lots of natural light. Free breakfast was delicious and the dorms were clean and comfortable. One of the better hostels I’ve stayed at for sure!

IndiaSeems a little pricey for the facilities offered and the limited breakfast. Great idea to offer (and insist on) house slippers, but they’re quite ugly. 😂
Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. GREAT location.

PhilippinesThe breakfast is not ready when I wake up at 6am. I thought the breakfast will be served at 6 AM. I dont know if you are the one who will prepare the breakfast or the staff. Sad i was able to avail my 3 days free breakfast. I'm sad because I paid for it.
I like the facility what you see is what you get. The staff are so accomodating. The room are clean and the comfort room as well. I felt so safe and comfortable during my stay. I booked the 6 mixed room. If there is a chance to come back in Taiwan, I will book again in Star Hostel. Very accessible near the taipei main station. Thank you Star Hostel Good Job!

MalaysiaThe hostel is located on an old street, and on one pre-rainy day, we experienced a sudden outbreak of cockroaches on the street, coming from the ceiling and the underground pipes. Fortunately, the hostel itself felt like a clean and safe space where we could take shelter comfortably.
I travelled with colleagues and would highly recommend this hostel. It offers a variety of room types to suit different needs—some of us stayed in single rooms, others in doubles or dorms, with both shared and private bathrooms available. I appreciated the flexibility in room options. We were all quite satisfied, and the common areas were well-designed, allowing each group to find their own comfortable space to gather.

United StatesThe bed was a bit too firm but manageable.
The breakfasts were delicious and changed day to day. I enjoyed the crisp, white aesthetic of the linens. The female dorm had clean bathrooms and showers and readily available towels. There was a lot of space in the common areas for guests to use.

MalaysiaI wish they gave more info about the laundry and washing machine. Because I had to climb the stairs back and forth because I didnt have the laundry detergent and had to go down again because I didnt have enough coins. It's quite an exercise
I really love the vibe and facilities there. What I love the most is I can still relax at the common area even if I've already checked out (check out at 11 am, my flight was that night at 7 pm). They are so welcoming ☺️

SingaporeSlippers were a little small for my feet. Maybe I could have requested for the guys slippers haha. There was a hair on my pillow, but no biggie, brushed it off. Mosquito in the bathroom, I worry about Dengue so tried to kill it. Not used to having to "throw nothing into the toilet bowl" maybe they can include a sign inside the cubicle. But there isn't a bad smell as they clean up fast.
Clean, professional staff so I felt very welcome, breakfast was sumptuous. Wide selection of drinks during breakfast, even soy milk which I added to my hot coffee. Good effort to stagger the many guests' breakfast so that it's not too crowded. Ladies bathroom may get busy but usually clears out fast enough.

United StatesI hated the fact that when I finally arrived after 30 hours of travel, they did not let me sit in the common lounge because it was "too early". I was not expecting an early check-in or a warm welcome, but at least a chair to sit and unwind after stressful flights. I begged them to let me be there quetly for a while, even had my own slippers, it was a stern "No". When travellers book a hotel, they expect to have a place to arrive to and at least sit down, especially if it's 5AM and everything else outside is closed. During my stay, when I sat in the lounge, I often thought, how amazing it would have felt if I was allowed to enter that morning. Thankfully, they agreed to keep my luggage when I was out In general, the staff is not very helpful. They are there to provide you with a "DO NOT DO" list and patronize you to make sure you removed your shoes when entering. To the question when does the first train start running in the morning, I was told to ask at the station. After you ask them couple of questions, you remember to never approach them again. For more than a night or two, I would stay elsewhere.
Very clean hostel at a great location. The private double is tiny, bed squeezed between two walls, but clean and even has a window (to a parking lot, local buildings, and couple of tall modern buildings in the background). Their lounge is serene. Perfect to start a day or unwind in the evening. Overall, not a bad value for couple of days.
