Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The only negative for me was that the showers are only on the ground floor...and the noisy sliding entrance door.
Hostel Who Knows is a great place to stay. Not far from the Bus Station, cafes and shops. The manager and staff were extremely helpful with requests, assistance and advice

A beautiful place, furnished with taste and a unique style! You can really tell that everything has been designed with passion and attention to the smallest detail. The bed guarantees perfect privacy, the common area is comfortable and well equipped, and there’s also a beautiful outdoor counter. All is super clean! What truly makes the difference is the owner: genuinely kind, friendly, and always ready to help. And the location? Right in the heart of the city!

Super helpful friendly host with excellent English. The rooms are comfortable and all have curtains. Bathrooms are modern and clean. Location is good, close to shops and restaurants.

All good. Maybe only negative aspect: there are no lockers.

It was a warm and cozy hostel, everything has built by the owner and was beautiful and maintained well. The owner was really friendly and helpful. Worth the stay!

The place is so well thought, to the details! It's just very well arranged for the easiness of whoever comes, and the small terrace to the outside is actually really comfy. Everything is nearby. And it's well kept and organised. It's a formal but comfy place.

Showers are on the lower level from the dorms.
Owner is very personable and helpful with local info. The location is steps to food and shopping. Walkable to bus station or to bus for train station. Spacious, clean dorms.

I appreciate for the staff.She was kindly respond and leads me to the room. Inside of the hostel always kept clean and good environment because of the consideration by owner. I could relaxed and rested well when I backed to the hostel. The location were near the central market.Therefore it was easy to walk around local area with peaceful atmosphere. If I had a chance to go to Taitung,I would like to stay here again.

The common area is a bit small, but because it's a small building. Not very well insulated. We could hear the construction work until late in the evening.
Nice little place, close to the bus station, and 10min walk from the beach, where you can watch the sunrise. The place is very clean and tidy, well maintained by a very friendly staff.
