    Anything other than the following

Power supply does not work well, was disconnected many times, requiring the air conditioner to be turned on each time.

Everything. This was truly a "minshuku". The owner owns and lives there. It is not another commercial space rented out to build hostel. In terms of facilities, the room and bathroom were clean. The stairs were not an issue for me. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Overall, my favorite stay in Taiwan.

    Nothing.

Great location. Very close to the train/bus station with lots of bike/scooter rentals nearby. The owner was lovely and really helpful. He talked me through different places to visit/do and advised me of where to hire bikes from, buses etc.

Location: a short walk in a straight line from the train station. Has 7/11, family mart, Dingo (Hualien's boba chain), a breakfast eatery, bicycle rental shop and even a live music bar (1709) very close by! Host: super kind and hospitable Captain who will answer all your questions to the best of his abilities and give you plenty of recommendations! He made sure that we were safe during the earthquake and even brought us (me and some other guests staying at the time) out cycling the next day when most of the shops were closed. Facilities: toilet is EXTREMELY clean, water pressure is somehow even better than my own home toilet in Singapore... bed is so comfy that I had trouble waking up each morning...

Only downside is that as some rooms do not have windows, it can smell musty if people hang their wet towels in the room. But easily solved by hanging your towel in the laundry area downstairs or just on the staircase banister outside your room.

Taiwanese owner is very very helpful! He brought me to the night market by scooter, explained many things related to hiking in Taiwan and helped me understand better different aspects about Taiwan. Nice check-in process!

the owner is super nice and friendly. the room and bathroom is so clean. if you need a bigger locker, they do have a big one.

the lower bunk bed is a bit narrow, can’t sit straight or else will bump into the interlayer.
