How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStaff was very friendly and helpful Breakfast on the Terrace was lovely. Hotel was the perfect location if you want to be bang in the middle of Central Istanbul City close to museums, mosque i.e The Blue Mosque, Boat ride tours, trams and metro, not forgetting Restaurant and Shops wherever you turn. All at walking distance. And if you like cats, well you definitely won't miss out for all the cat lovers 😀 Thank you Staff from Amber Hotel & Spa
Stains on the towels and the transfer taxi service was pricey. We wanted to experience the Spa in the hotel, which was out of service for the time we were there.

Verified reviewSuperb breakfast to be enjoyed on the rooftop patio! There was a nice variety of food and the view was wonderful.
We booked 4 double rooms and a single room. When we got into our rooms, we had 2 "doubles" that actually had 3 beds, so we could have reduced the number of rooms we booked.

Verified reviewThe value for money
The breakfast has almost nothing continental, if you don’t like the turkish one (a bad turkish one) there is nothing to eat. It’s not a 4 star hotel, more like a badly kept 3 star.

Verified reviewThe Staff were amazing, super friendly and made the stay enjoyable. We had issues with the bedroom and they were able to provide alternative rooms and were very Accomodating. We had the breakfast, there were plenty of options to choose from but would have been nice if there a few drink options. Location was perfect with many restaurants nearby, attractions and tram weren’t too far either!
The hotel in general is beautiful but does need a bit of an update e.g. sockets, shower heads etc

Verified reviewThe staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was cleaned very well. There was a variety of food for breakfast and the patio area next to the breakfast room was a nice place to sit and relax. The hotel was situated near restaurants (just around the corner from the hotel) and was within walking distance of all the main attractions.

Verified reviewLocation was good.
We woke up on the first morning to find there had been a leak from one of the rooms which took out all the electrics and the water. The staff didn’t seem to know what was going on. Breakfast was extremely limited due to no electricity (no coffee or tea!) We witnessed an appalling lack of health and safety, including a toilet roll and a towel shoved into a fuse box to soak up water, and trailing extension cables up and down the stairs (major trip hazard). As there was still no electricity or water by 2pm and we were not offered any alternative accommodation, we made the decision to move to another hotel. We have tried to contact the hotel to ask for a refund for our second night, and also tried via Booking.com, but the hotel have not even bothered to reply. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.
Dear Sam, We would like to express our sincere apologies for the experience you had. Unfortunately, the situation at the hotel developed unexpectedly. We did our best to resolve it. All guests staying at the hotel were approached and offered our apologies.(We also offered chocolate and fruit) There was no request from you to change hotels, nor did we receive any message from you via booking.com. While we understand that you were inconvenienced, we would also like to point out that the hotel was affected by the situation as well. If you had informed us about the issue, we certainly could have come up with a solution. Even if you had sent us a message through booking.com, we as the management would have seen it and taken the necessary action. We believe that a 1-star rating does not fairly reflect the situation or the efforts we made.

Verified reviewI loved the staff, and our room had a lot of space. The cleaning staff was exceptional, and the breakfast was tasty. We ordered the Sultan's package at the Spa, and it was really nice.
There were a lot of Russians, and some or the staff only spoke Russian. Sometimes, Russian songs were played during breakfast. If that makes you uncomfortable, that is something to take into account.

Verified reviewEverything was great. The morning breakfast staff are all amazing. All the reception staff were awesome, very helpful and always smiling. Yaquob from the reception lent me his transportation card without even asking. The hotel is cozy and in a great area. Can’t wait for my next stay there. Highly recommended!
The only thing that I didn’t like there is the cat. I’m allergic to cats and other animals.
