Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalBreakfast is a bit disappointing.
Overall, really good experience. The staff was amazing. No matter the difficulty of the request (all of which out of the scope of their hotel), they went out of their way to solve it. I want to personally thank the male receptionist with longer hair (do not recall his name now) who was tireless during our stay.

AlgeriaA small, cozy, and exceptional hotel perched at the top of beautiful Sidi Bou Said. The charm of the place is only matched by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. We were warmly welcomed and very well treated throughout our stay — special thanks to the General Manager, Mohamed, whose attention to detail and genuine care made a real difference. There was a minor hiccup during a coffee break, but these things happen — we’re all human — and it was handled gracefully and efficiently by Mohamed himself. Definitely planning to come back soon with the family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, authenticity, and excellent service in one of Tunisia’s most iconic spots.

CanadaWhere do I begin to describe the drive up the hill upon a grand adorable surprise! We did not imagine our boutique Dar La Menara would be a gem resting on the top of a hill… as the meaning for the property, truly a sunrise and sunset beacon upon Sidi Bou Said, Tunis, and The Mediterranean Ocean. It was as though the staff were patiently awaiting our arrival, big smiles and wide open arms as Samir, Wiem, and Zainab greeted us. Quickly we met Karim, completing the front line team, explaining the Dar, the amenities, and our glorious room. This was the end of our 16 day educational trip on Tunisia, its culture and rich history of Islam and how Tunis was and continues to be the leader in helping Africa shine bright! Breakfast was simply adorable, just as perfect as the hotel. Every morning you are greeted with those same true smiles from Samir, Wiem, and Zainab. You have so many options to sit just about anywhere to enjoy the skyline views while you have your coffee, tea, juice, and breakfast. Whether the room, the breakfast solarium, or down by the heavenly swimming pool. Eventually you will find Mohammad running around with the other staff ensuring everything is in tip top condition!!! And of course, the chief Murad is working hard to make sure everything is business as usual, will always make time for good conversation, and just like his team, he has plenty of valuable information to share about Tunis. Must not forget to mention the amenities… the cleanliness is so comforting after a busy trip and many hot temperature days! The housekeeping staff such as Taouse always around to ensure your room was quickly tidied up within a blink of an eye, she is so quick and amazing! The local bus, and train are barely 7 minutes walking distance from the property. The transit system is old… but it works, it’s adorably affordable, and the passengers are all helpful to ensure you are going in the right direction!

United StatesDon’t know that it was a dislike but it was Ramadan and we hadn’t booked ahead for any of the Iftar meals so didn’t get to try the restaurant. The one breakfast we had was really early and I think done as an accommodation for us so not fair to judge.
The view from the rooms/balcony was unbelievable and the rooms themselves were also gorgeous. I also loved being able to pick them online. Also had an incredible Hammam experience. Highly recommended. Finally, the staff (especially Karim and the manager, Mohamed) was awesome. The door to our room got damaged by some freak winds and they not only relocated everything to another room immediately they comped us that night for the trouble. Truly first rate service across the board. Can’t imagine there is a better place, at least for us, in Sidi Bou Said, which was also a great location for us (after two nights in/near the Medina earlier in the trip).

SwitzerlandAs a five star hotel, the breakfast was too simple and low quality. As there is only eight guest rooms, it would be much better to offer freshly prepared local breakfast such as grilled salad, tomato egg stew with fresh bread. Other than the breakfast, their spa can be nicer as this is their selling point. They offer Hammam for couples. However there is only one scrabbling table and one personnel in the hammam. So my partner and I had to wait in cold for 20 min or so while the other is being served. This had downgraded the experience a lot.
The property is well managed, clean and stylish. The location is superb with nice overview of the bay, and mountains. It’s a bit outside the touristic village. So quieter during day and night.

PolandMy stay at La Menara was nothing short of incredible! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by their amazing staff, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They even surprised me with a free upgrade, which was such a thoughtful and delightful touch. The highlight of my experience was staying in the Ottoman Room—it was absolutely extraordinary! Every detail of the decor exuded elegance, with intricate designs and luxurious touches that transported me to another time. The room was impeccably clean, spacious, and perfectly appointed View from Balcony is on the North / Western side, dominated by carthage landscape, but You only have to go to the side of the balcony to view a beautiful Lac / Bay of Tunis, with Boukornine mountain in the background. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable getaway!

MoroccoMy stay at Hotel La Menara was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the peaceful ambiance, the exquisite decor, and the warm hospitality of the staff. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the hammam experience, which left us feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The breakfast was another standout, offering a delightful spread that catered to all tastes. My only regret? Not booking more than one night! If you're planning a trip to Tunis, I highly recommend making Hotel La Menara a part of your journey. It’s a gem that should not be missed!
