Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhile we did get an email that was to help us find it- it neglected to say that there are no signs with the hotel name- nothing to indicate you have arrived. It is past a number of broken and empty buildings and down a sandy road on which you needed to take a short detour- so it took awhile to find and we had to ask someone down the road to help. The location is part of the charm- but more specific help would have been nice! WiFi worked in the breakfast area- not at all in our room
Quiet location, unique room and setting. Friendly staff!

We loved our stay at Grand Sud, la maison de sable. The owner, Mohammed, is a very kind host and we felt immediately like home. We enjoyed the calmness of the space, the great view of the dessert and the starry night sky, the beautiful breakfast in the morning. We will definitely come back!!!

United StatesAs others have mentioned, the booking.com location is wrong - why not get it fixed? Also google maps does not know the difference between sandy tracks and roads, and the owner met us at the Cinderella Camping to direct us there. Why not some signposts, or at least a detailed map in advance? It would save some bother.
This place is defined by its location on the edge of the desert. The room was functional, sparcely decorated, with surprisingly good a/c and wifi. The bathroom was rather crude. The breakfast was good and served at 7 a.m. to fit in with the 4.30-6.30 a.m. camel ride. The owner was charming (he got up to make sure we got on the camels at 4.30 a.m.) There are two camels to pet (though those were not the ones we rode).

The place seems wonderful to me; it is truly in the desert. I didn't have high expectations for this place and I was greatly surprised. It is a place that has little, but many details if you really observe. The room I stayed in had everything, it was clean, and it had great decoration. Mohamed (I’m not sure if I’m spelling his name correctly) was excellent, he helped us with some activities in the desert, and he is a very friendly person. Additionally, there are two ducks and a rooster that brightened my visit. The breakfast was simple.

RomaniaIt was a lovely stay, the location is isolated and quiet, the last house before the desert, so to some it s a good thing, to others is not. We enjoyed beeing close to nature. Mohamed is a lovely host and ha can arrange private camel rides and 4x4 in the desert at very good prices. We did both and loved it and I recomend you do the same, the experience is really really good.

SpainThe energy of the place and particularly of the host was lovely. I truly enjoyed my chats with Mohammed as we discussed our views about the desert, the country, life... (Merci Mohammed!) Come here for a different experience to a hotel and still with more than enough comforts. You can arrange excursions with him, all just easy. We went on a dromedary ride in the late afternoon, it was a very relaxing time. The property is located at the very end of the inhabited areas before the Sahara, so there's only the desert around you, and it's easy to move around in your own car or by taxi (5-10 minutes to Douz). All positives.

United StatesGrand Sud is at the edge of the Sahara! Probably one of the last homes before you get to Algeria! The location is wonderful. The host is so warm, welcoming, and kind that he makes the stay even better. Plus, if you want to go camping in the desert by camel he will arrange it all for you easily and affordably. So incredible to leave by camel from the hotel into the desert. A car (we had two wheel drive no problem to get here) is probably essential since town is 12-15 minutes driving. The sunset from the upper patio is beautiful over the date palms. Stay here.

United KingdomAmazing little spot on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Perfect for anyone looking to escape society and get away into wide open spaces. Mohamed the host was extremely friendly and hospitable, and helped organize a 2 day camel ride into the Saharan dunes. The trip was incredible and our guide Mossem went out of his way to make the experience memorable, cooking us delicious traditional food and even keeping us dry during an unexpected thunderstorm. We had a fantastic stay!

PolandIt’s very difficult to find the place. Google shows it wrong. And you need to drive through a sand road to get there. Internet is available only at the dining room. The price seems a bit too expensive for the quality.
It is a house in the desert. Behind it there’s literally nothing, only dunes of Sahara. The owner, although doesn’t speak well in English, was very helpful and friendly and organized and offroad trip on next day morning (like very early morning). You’ll fall in love with a local dog and camels. They belong to the owner.
