Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomthis is a charming building within the centre of the pedestrianised suq area. it's quiet at night and in the thick of it during the day - a great location. our downstairs room was attractive and with a courtyard view was very quiet. The courtyard with jasmine was lovely for sitting and reading and having breakfast - an oasis. The staff were charming and helpful and the continental breakfast was adequate to start the day. the decor throughout was very Tunisian - tiles and whitewash and blue doors.

United StatesI didn't like hearing that there is a possibility the hotel will be "renovated" to make it more contemporary. I don't know of any other hotels in Djerba like this where the combination of historic authenticity and charm is matched so well with comfort and service. They should market that strength!
This was my third time staying at this charming, historic hotel and I have to say - it gets better every time. This time I came with friends and we booked 5 rooms. Staff were very responsive to my messages when I had concerns about there being someone to greet us with our later than expected arrival. The front desk is manned all the time. Breakfast was fabulous and served in the central courtyard area. The rooms we had were very spacious and everyone's beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly, spoke English and French, and were able to make suggestions for us. They made our stay super easy.

AustraliaNo separate shower cubicle in bathroom. Need to use hand shower in space next to toilet. Water does drain out v quickly and floor dries up so there was no fear of slipping for too long. Breakfast v basic. Not even a boiled egg. Need to use communal kitchen fridge, which I thankfully was allowed to as I stayed for five days. No beach near Houmt Souk.
Najib at reception who speaks very good English was there on arrival and thankfully on departure too. He looked after me o well. Even arranged a car to take me round the island. Super location in the heart of Houmt Souk. Love the authentic ornate decor of hotel and the rooms. Simple and clean throughout. All rooms face onto courtyard where one has breakfast. V peaceful and homely. Don't expect to be dropped off in front of hotel as no access for vehicles in central Houmt Souk. However, hotel only a few minutes' walk from main taxi rank and all locals know where hotel is, so ask around.

SingaporeI went in winter and room is cold. There is a small heater and even when the staff switched on 1st night, not sure it help much. Was not turn on 2nd night. Supposedly a centralized control so could not switch on ourselves.
Location is great. In the middle of the souk with lots of shops and restaurants surrounding. Staff is really helpful and friendly.

United Statesno breakfast.
The ambience of the property was superb. I felt “away” from my normal life. But I was looking for a different experience. Djerba is a great place if you prefer a more contemporary holiday with good shopping in a clean safe environment. I wanted an adventure. The owner was extremely accommodating and allowed me to cancel 2 nights of a 3-day reservation and I am very grateful. That is good service even though he could have said “no”. I did stay there one night and rested comfortably. It was quiet, the hot water was “hot” and the facilities were very clean.

SpainHotel staff offered us to arrange a taxi to the airport and when the taxi driver got there to pick us up, asked for a price quite different to the one settled. It breaks our trust. A tourist hotel should be very careful with its recommendations because things like this breaks confidence. It's not just the money, it's the trust you put in professional advice. Sad.

TunisiaUnfortunately, the value for money was really not there. The room was not very clean and lacked many basic amenities. The towels were old and worn out, and the breakfast was of very, very poor quality. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend it for the proposed price

United KingdomThe whole place was run down and in need of TLC. It waa more like the sort of facilities you'd expect in a hostel, but way more expensive than a hostel. The staff didn't care at all and weren't there when you tried to check in or get breakfast, so you have to wander around looking for them. I booked 4 nights and wished I'd only booked 1. Worst place I've stayed in four weeks in Tunisia. The shower no longer has a hook on the wall so you have to hold it, but there's no shower curtain so water goes everywhere. The 'toiletries' they provide are a small bar of soap. Tiles are broken or missing. Everywhere needs a darned good clean. Breakfast is bread, jam, those cheap triangles of plastic cheese, and plastic-wrapped cake. The green tea was OK. There's no excuse given there's a patisserie next door. The wifi is awful.
Great location. The room was basic and the bed comfortable. The young guy on reception was excellent and the only member of staff who seemed to understand what customer service entailed.
