How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNothing the place was sooo dirty The owner of the place is rude It says there is a kitchen and this is a lie. There is no kitchen. The pool is very dirty and this made my children sad. They were happy to have an armed man on that very hot day. The chairs are also dirty. There is no soap in the room. There are no blocks to make a cup of tea.
Everything, especially the owner of the place, was very rude. When I asked her for a cup of coffee, she said, “I am not a hotel.”

Verified reviewThe staff was lovely! The breakfast and help of the two ladies and the owner online made us feel very welcome. Naima made the best home made jam for the breakfast! We stayed there for a week because the weather was too hot for the desert and Dar Michèle made sure everyday was very good even though it was during a heatwave. They even let us use their bbq with the sunset to have a romantic dinner, they bought charcoal for us and gave us all the equipment. The guest ladies gave us recommendations for good restaurants and helped us a lot. The swimming pool is really nice, would definitely recommend.

I didn’t like that there was no water or electricity in the morning, the breakfast was poor, and I had to pay unexpected extra charges at the property.

Verified reviewVery quiet and relaxed. It's a nice old house which hasn't been over-restored. Niama was very friendly and welcoming. Location was fine for us, but is in a residential area with minimal street lighting
Being an old house you have to accept that it is not as comfortable to stay in as a modern hotel, and a bit draughty and chilly in winter. The description was a bit misleading - there is a kitchen but it's not generally available to guests. Our room had only a sink and a kettle, although we did borrow cups and cutlery. There is no washing machine available, laundry can be done but at 10 euros a load is very expensive.

Verified reviewNo running water and no employeees available during late hours upon arrival. Ecxperienced Unexpected 30% price increase by the fine print upon checkout. Room was cold during winter. But in general an acceptable stay.

Verified reviewA nice traditional feeling property in a quiet location. The staff we dealt with at the property were very friendly.
The property policy states that they accept various credit cards. This is not the case and only cash is accepted. We spent an hour trying to resolve this over the phone but were told it was cash only and not their problem that the details were wrong.

Verified reviewThe room and the courtyard were very nice. Mr. Khaled gave us a warm welcome. The location is quiet central in Houmt Souk, 10 minutes walking distance to the tourist centre and market. The price was very good for what we got.
The breakfast was quiet small and when we asked for more bread, we were given just one small piece per person aditionally. The fake grass in the courtyard doesn't match the rest of the nice interieur.

Verified reviewMadame Hansa was really nice along all the journey, however she is not the owner and I had some problems with her related to location, way to pay (even if at the end we found an agreement) and also some facilities were missing. Finally the street to arrive at home is without light so attention to walk in the night.
Missing the curtain in the shower, the water was into all the floor and the body shower. Poor breakfast

Verified reviewWe loved the typical style of property, the decor and the peaceful neighbourhood. The homemade jams for breakfast were delicious and Hasna was very kind and helpful. I really liked having all white bedding and a duvet cover! We stayed in the largest room with terraces and this was perfect for our 10night stay. We would definitely return😊
The internet could be better, it was a bit hit and miss. We had to keep logging in and no coverage in rooms. Maybe as the walls were so thick? A more varied selection for breakfast with some fruit would be nice and we were not keen on the white baguette but it was Ramadan.

Verified review+ Beautiful clean traditional rooms + Excellent location near the souk + Nice enclosed terrace to sit at and rest + Comfortable bed + Enough mirrors + AC with warming + Mr. Meow
- Wifi did not work inside the room, only on terrace (somewhat) - Breakfast is very basic and small - Toilet seat was cracked - Shower curtains were missing - Kitchen was not open for guests to use (maybe you can ask separately?)

Verified reviewThe property is very close to the center of Houmt Souk. The place is delightful and colorful. The host above all (i forgot her name) is absolutely the most welcoming we found in our Tunisian trip. She helped with everything we needed and was always ready to share information with a smile. We had a wonderful time! And the pool is much needed in the heat and was very clean!
Nothing, everything was exceptional

Verified reviewThe rooms were really lovely, with the swimming pool as an extra bonus. Olfa was always around and very helpful – we particularly loved eating a meal cooked at Dar Michele, would highly recommend this!
It was very difficult to find Dar Michele and the area around it felt quite run down. Without a car it was a bit of a hassle to travel around the island so would recommend considering this before staying here.
Nice to meet you at Dar Michèle. I hope to see you for the next time at Djerba.
