Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Very clean and inviting. Quite a homey place that felt just like home with a friendly cat and very hospitable, kind hosts. The terrace was a great place to gather fresh air and the hotel was conveniently located to all the places I wanted to visit

Samia is a great hostess. Right in the middle of the souk. Rooftop views. Lovely cat that lives there. Restaurants all around. Perfect.

AustraliaRoom was comfy but a little claustrophobic as just one window (which has shutters). Cash only sadly. Apparently one staff member speaks English - just a shame I didn’t overlap with her just once so I could express in person appreciation/comments without awkward google translate :)
The staff were fantastic, thank you. Resident cat great too! Shower was great, WiFi good, and some of the breakfasts included eggs which was amazing. Aircon also excellent. Very comfortable. Location is great! To be honest, I still kept getting lost finding the door but despite that it is wonderfully central. Recommend!

GermanyVery friendly staff, convenient location in the center of Houmt Souk yet quiet and with a great roof terrace to relax. Staff organized a taxi for the airport early in the morning and even prepared a small breakfast at 5 in the morning which we unfortunately needed to skip due to the early hour. The hotel feels like a cosy home and in my opinion was much preferable to the all inclusive hotels along Djerba beach, especially if you are looking for something more authentic and not for a beach/party hotel.

CanadaThe medina is generally quiet after 8 30 pm but if it's a noise you could hear it as walls aren't soundproof. But generally it isn't an issue as medina dies down after 8 pm and streets are really quiet. You can always shut down the windows if needed at all.
Okay so the ladies who work there are both so great and helpful. They would make you feel like it's your home They're very accommodating and since I was going out very early each day and was unable to have brekfast they would still ensure to give me a voffe, cake yogurt to start my day. How nice is that? I was also traveling tk the airport at 3 30 am and Selma helped me with booking taxi and woke up with me to see me off. Where else can you see such an exceptional customer service? She also prepared coffee yogurt and snacks for on the day of. The location is great and very easily reachable if you're arriving g though louage. It is also only 15 minutes drive to the airport so you can catch your flight in tine

United StatesBathroom set-up was a little awkward with nowhere obvious to put TP, no wall to assist in keeping the water in the shower, and only one towel hook. That said, the shower had excellent pressure and hot water, and the tiling was beautiful.
Best hosts and staff! Plus a bonus cat. Comfortable, clean, and in the heart of the Souk. Lovely breakfast, gorgeous rooftop terrace, spacious shared indoor spaces for working/reading/watching TV. Host accommodated our very late arrival due to delayed flights, and welcomed us around 1am, allowing us to go straight to sleep.

United StatesThe internet was very slow. There is a lot of noise outside up to about 10 PM but this is to be expected in the Medina.
The place is immaculate and nicely decorated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Can’t beat the location. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Tunisia. Lots of hot water.

CanadaThe front door is very difficult to open and close; it scrapes heavily on the ground and makes a dreadful noise.
If you drive here you park at the Turkish Mosque and walk three minutes over cobblestones to Dar Lola which is right in Houmt Souk. Then up a very long staircase…pack lightly! Lovely reception from Shahla; paid cash in Euros. You get a key to the front door and your room. We took the double room at the back with the red trimmed door The room was large and bright with a window over the souk from each the bedroom and bathroom. There is a chair, an armoire, night tables with two reading lamps and a large ledge for your luggage. The bed is comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom is small and very efficient; I like the design even though the shower is small. Very functional. Breakfast was very nice and served in the common main room, or even on the roof top balcony if requested. Coffee, bread, cake, butter, jams, yogurt, omelet, juice, and fresh fruit parfait. The souk was very quiet at night which is good as the rooms are definitely not sound proof. Shahla, and the other ladies, and her cats were lovely hosts. They even did a load of laundry for us (for a nominal fee) and hung everything to dry on the roof top which made our ongoing journey very pleasant.

Comfortable room in an excellent location in the centre of Houmt Souk. The staff (including cats!) are great, and the breakfast though it's not substantial is a pleasant mix of fruit, bread and eggs (served differently each day).

United KingdomThe mattress was a little bit firm for us and the shower had no curtain, so the bathroom floor was always wet.
We loved the friendly welcome and personal touch. All the ladies and the cats that work there are very friendly, despite the language barrier as the day staff don't speak much English, and our French was very basic, but the lady in the evening speaks good English. The hotel is very clean, with a nice roof terrace to enjoy the sun, also a communal sitting room with games. There's use of the kitchen to make your own drinks etc, and the main reception area doubles as a breakfast room, which is a very sociable experience. The breakfast was lovely, with many options from yoghurt, fruit, bread, toast and omelette. Our room had a juliet balcony, overlooking part of the Souk, it can be a bit noisy in the morning but it didn't bother us, as we decided to stay here to be in the middle of everything. The room was spacious, but the bathroom quite small. Overall we had a fantastic stay, thankyou for organising the birthday cake 😊 Hope to see you again. Lee & Sónia
