I loved the architecture! I like Matali Crasset design. The place is potentially great and it needs to be supported!

Amazing location and view. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast and dinner were good. The pool with hot mineral spring water is really nice. Rooms are huge.

Rooms were not perfectly clean. The design of the rooms is creative but not always practical. The sanitary smells in the whole room

Varied breakfast buffet, very attentive staff, delicious four-course dinner, spacious rooms, natural thermal pool, spectacular views. Convivial atmosphere with large communal spaces and opportunities for interaction with fellow travelers (e.g. movie nights, fireplace etc.). Locally sourced building materials, tableware and food. Focus on sustainable and eco-friendly tourism,

Dar Hi was easily one of the best places we've stayed -- beautiful facilities, delicious organic food (both dinner and breakfast was included), peaceful venue overlooking the palms, interesting architecture, kind staff (we received great recommendations and one staff member helped us find a great tour), and the pool which was warmed by natural springs was so fun to swim in. It was easy to tour the Star Wars site, the medina, and oases in the desert from this Dar.

The one place for improvement is in the cleanliness of the pool, which did have some algae on the cement, but didn't stop us from swimming.

Dar Hi is an exceptional building located on an exceptional site overlooking a courbeil/valley of palm trees and the small town of Nefta. It is a stark architectural proposition that aims to redefine a hotel stay as contributing to and reflecting community life. Whether it succeeds in doing so is difficult to establish. We were the only guests in the hotel. It is however a great ambition. The staff was very welcoming and kind. The breakfast buffet was wonderful with fresh fruit, pancakes, cheese, eggs etc. The evening dinner simple, fresh and tasteful. It was the beginning of December and the temperature was a bit too cold to use the outside pool. The communal spaces have exceptional views and so have the rooms. My husband very much liked reading while lying on a lounge bed overlooking the courbeil. We both liked sitting in front of the open fire in the communal area. the bed was comfortable and the shower great. We think it is great for small group stays while exploring the region.

Would we have come here if we had not been recommended the place by friends, I am not sure. We walked through the courbeil and felt that it was rather badly taken care off. This is not a responsibility of Dar Hi, but it shows that the overall ambition to contribute to the community may not be met with equal enthusiasm. We were not sure what the attractions in the region were, but then we were not there to go on any of the desert trips and just took a few walks through the town. But for those interested in architecture this is definitely a treat.

The original design makes this a super unique hotel with a beautiful view of the palm grove below. Meals provided were simple but delicious/traditional, and coffee machine in common area was a bonus. Staff were very friendly and spoke ENG.

Considering the high price point, I would say the hotel and board is no longer worth it. I would stay elsewhere. The hotel is showing serious signs of wear and tear and needs an upgrade/ refurb to remain value for money. Outdoor cushions, interiors, rooms (e.g sinks in bathroom did not drain), pool all look dated and unclean, hammam was unusable and smelt of mould. The checkout on Booking says 12-1pm but it’s 12pm… Lastly, their card machine didn’t work (which for this price point is unacceptable) with three different bank cards, so I was escorted from ATM to ATM which felt slightly uncomfortable.

    The view and architecture

    1. The room door could not be closed properly. 2. Multiple lamps in the room were defective, leaving the room poorly lit. 3. While there were bathrobes for children, there were none available for adults. 4. The rooms had a pervasive and unpleasant odor resembling sewage. 5. The pool was in a deplorable state, filled with mud and moss, indicating a severe lack of maintenance. 6. The hammam was unclean and emitted a moldy smell. The ceiling was damaged and peeling. 7. The terrace was noticeably less well-maintained compared to our last visit. 8. The cushions and sunbeds were heavily soiled, indicating a lack of proper cleaning. 9. The pots of the plants were damaged and in disrepair.

Very cool property (and proud of itself, as the binder in the rooms tells you). Neat day beds along full size windows overlooking the valley oasis. Enjoyed the dinner.

This property must have been amazing when it was built and fully maintained, but is going to seed a bit. Expensive for what remains. Water runs around the property and into the hot (hot) pool, but all full of algae. Breakfast was very modest.

One of the nicest and most interesting hotels that I had a pleasure to visit. I loved the architecture and design of every part - from rooms and furniture to pool and hammam. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. The views are breathtaking. The music choice amazing. Would love to come back again.

The only thing I would improve would be the food. Breakfasts were good, but dinners totally not worth the money. Getting a bit of dry couscous and a couple of pieces of grilled vegetables and a plain banana for dessert for 16€ is quite a joke looking at other places in Tunisia, where you can get amazing food for less than half of this price. The other night we got pieces of fish, which was literally the worst that I had - unedible for humans, only cats seemed to be happy. Taking into account how great this place is, it’s really a shame to serve such a bad quality food.

Central location for the movie filming locations that we wanted to see. The staff was very attentive to our needs and the food was excellent.

Finding the front entrance was a little challenging since it was down a narrow street.

Amazing facilities, unparalleled views/ architecture, staff are incredibly welcoming and warm.

I think there is great room for improvement in terms of food offering. The culinary culture of the region is super rich and that is unfortunately not fully reflected on the breakfast/ dinner menus. During our stay, only one type of rosé/ red wine and local beer were available to drink. The other potential improvement is the pool. Although I understand that the water cannot be changed/ filtered as frequently since it’s a natural spring, I still think the pool floor should still be cleaned from algae. It was a bit gross/ slippery.
