How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe rooms are spacious and shower is good.
The ashtray on the balcony with cigarette butts, the balcony furniture is dirty, no floor towel, no glasses in the room. Service in the restaurant was strange: white pasta with seafood turned out to be harissa pasta with tune from the can

Verified reviewThe hotel has a lot going for it. Staff were generally warm and welcoming, and most seemed to take pride in their work - from catering to housekeeping to the day-to-day running of the hotel. We booked one room but were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to two rooms connected by an internal door. It felt like a private suite for the price of one. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and modern, and the rooms were cleaned daily, including the toilet. The hotel was quite busy with international tourists, which shows how popular it is. Despite that, it felt very safe and well-managed, with proper on-site security throughout. There’s also an astroturf football pitch nearby that’s open to the public. We didn’t use it, but it was good to have close by.
The location isn’t central, so you’ll need a taxi to get into the heart of El Jem. Also, taxis can be unreliable. We asked the hotel to book one for the airport at 7:30 am, and they were adamant it had been arranged - but it never showed up. Reception couldn’t reach the driver and didn't provide proof or details of the booking, so we still don’t know if it was ever properly confirmed. Because of that, we missed our flight, which was incredibly frustrating. A private individual kindly offered to take us - for half the price - but by then it was too late. Definitely worth arranging transport independently and having a backup plan.

Verified reviewRoom was clean and comfortable.
Terrible food and overpriced. Terrible location when there was limited taxis in town to get to the property. Shower was cold. Overpriced. Not to mention a bad was advertised but no alcohol was served.

Verified reviewIt is trying to be a boutique hotel but just missing the mark a bit. Good clean rooms, Breakfast excellent
The rooms were cold. It seemed like they were doing their best to be an upmarket hotel but a lot missing, I had to ask for wifi code, tv wasnt working, no instructions about anything in the room, not even fire escape information. No bin in the bathroom. Staff did their best but need a bit more training. No one on checkout when I left. No lift, so you may have to carry bags up a few flights of stairs. Quite a way out of town.

Verified reviewNice new hotel and friendly staff.
For a new hotel there was NO lift, if this is important to you. Breakfast was basic but sufficed. WI FI kept dropping out. As there are only two hotels in El Jem, this one is about a 41-minute walk out of the town. Basically, in the middle of nowhere. You need to get reception to call you a taxi and it is about a 15-minute wait. However, it served it's purpose. Hotel Julius is right next to the train station and the amphitheatre.

Verified reviewThe water pressure, heat and facilities were spotless. The hotel is dead quiet and remote.
Had to purchase an additional room or find an alternative because I was traveling with friends of the opposite gender. It you're going to El Jem, there's a hotel that's much closer to the monument.
thanks for your message Tunisia low doesn't allow Tunisian people who don't have to act of marriage to have the same rooms as her girlfriend . that's why we don't accept your entrance in same room with your girlfriend. thanks for your understanding.

Verified reviewThe welcome drink is good idea to please guest. There are not many guest at the time of our stay, it is really quiet, the hotel is located at a place about 5 minutes away from town and there is no building around so it is very safe with a guard controlled gate for in and out.
At the time of my booking, it indicates that there is a swimming pool, however it is not exist in reality, I suppose it is under construction, I can see some excavation work at the back yard of the hotel. The facilities in the room is really undesirable, the worst I met in my 21 days trip in Tunisia, just list some: 1. no air conditioning - you got central circulation of air without air conditioning; 2. broken chair provide in side; 3. no glass in room, 4. sliding door to balcony cant be locked; 5. no lift to upper floor. The breakfast and dinner is something below average, the staff for the dinner is invisible, you have either find the opposite fast food stall staff to find him or you find him in the kitchen !!! The food quality of the dinner is really below average in Tunisia.

Verified reviewThe hotel is really well kept, perfectly neat and in order. Far above Tunisian standards to be honest. Personnel very educated and available.
Unfortunately, the restaurant and the bar do not match the quality of the hotel.
