How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat value for money. What stood of most is the receptionist, who really went above and beyond to provide good service. He was always looking for a way to help or make the experience better. The hostel is spacious, with a big common area with a view over the city. The dorm rooms were also wide and spacious, with even a private sitting area within the room. I had the room to myself for the 4 days I was there. Air-conditioning available, which is crucial in summer (although it does turn itself off at night). There's a kitchen. Wifi available (standard Tajik speed). Warm showers, towels provided. Good location with public transport nearby, and a 24/7 supermarket in the same building. Great option for the price, have recommended to others already.
Cleanliness of kitchen and common area. Just mopping the floors is not enough, all surfaces were sticky. I know part of it is because of the clientele, but that just means 1x cleaning per day is not enough (or better control is needed: daily people were sitting barefoot on the kitchen tops, not very hygienic to prepare food on). Also, sheets were clean, but the (only) blankets provided to sleep under were not washed. I checked all 6 of them in the dorm, and all had hairs on it. I requested a sheet instead, which was provided.

Verified reviewThis hostel was very dirty, under my bed it was full of garbage. The floor was full of hairs and dust (even in the kitchen) It seems that was never been cleaned for the past weeks. When the people of the room left they never changed the bed sheet for more than a week...I had to look for another place to stay because it was a nightmare. CLEAN THIS PLACE, IS DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!

The Hostel administration took action and urgently changed the manager, fired the cleaning lady and hired a new one. We assure you that the issue of cleanliness and hygiene comes first and is under the supervision of the administration. You can safely come to our beautiful city and stay with us without fear of any inconvenience. Thank you for your feedback.

I could not find the hostel in the first place. My taxi driver was also struggling. There were no signs or anything telling you where the hostel is. Also the WiFi is terrible and the guest behave very disrespectful by blocking the lockers and putting their feet on the table. I do not recommend!

Verified reviewPro: -easy to find the address (especially when you locate by Google map, the apartment is just by the side road) -maybe 30 minutes of walking to the attractions but is a nice walk since it's a spring season, I love Dushanbe so many flowers. -there is a 24/7 supermarket below the apartment -there is a restaurant below the apartment (I had a green tea lemon and qurutob as recommended, it was a nice meal but the portion was too big so I ended up bringing it as take takeaway). -good to have a female dorm and shower in the room with hot water (the dorm is quite spacious) -you can do laundry for a reasonable fee, there is a washing machine with no dryer but you can hang your clothes on a drying rack. -there is a lift/elevator because the hostel is on the 9th/10th floor -there is an AC in the room -taxi & marshrutka are just in front of the apartment so easy to get around the city -is easy to cross the road because of the connection tunnel -10 minutes walk you can find bank/atm, telco shop and others. -Very nice and good hosts especially my Muslim sister from Russia. She makes my stay very pleasant. Thank you, Anna.
Con: -At first not easy to find the entrance because there is no sign of the hostel. I kept going around the apartment took me about 5-10 minutes to confirm by the picture of the bell. I think it will be easy to locate if there is a sign of a hostel at the front door. -The front door needs a door code, and the elevator needs an access key to go up (for the elevator, they will give you one but for the front door either you press the bell or wait until people come out from the door) -The toilet is outside of the room, I'm fine with that but is kind of awkward because it is next to the male's toilet -the shower space is a bit cramped but I'm ok because of my height (I'm not that tall). -sometimes the elevator doesn't work so have to climb the stairs, I'm grateful it's not happening to me on my first or last day there.
