Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ThailandThis is my second time here, and I’ve fallen in love with this place all over again. The view is absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere is so quiet and peaceful. The staff are very kind, and even the staff remembered me which made me feel truly welcome as a Thai guest. I haven’t found another place that matches my energy the way this one does. Of course, I’ll be back for sure!

United KingdomLots of steps but that is to be expected as Koh Tao is very hilly. There was building work, expanding the hotel, going on right in-front of our villa ( not the sea side) which made it noisy from 8am to 5pm and which we weren’t aware of before going. However, the hotel responded really well discounting our room rate and food/drinks. A refurbishment of some of the furniture is needed.
Great pool villa, lovely view over the sea albeit over the flat roof of another villa. Kitchen, bathroom, seating areas inside and out all good. Lovely pool at villa. Great general pool area and terrace too. Excellent restaurant. The SSI Diving club is very professional. Fun dives every day as well as training from start up to instructor.

SloveniaCons: - Very RUDE STAFF, with few exceptions. For example: my boyfriend and I were drinking cocktails by the pool during happy hour and while trying different drinks, the 2 bar tenders were making fun of us - they were speaking in their language, so we didn't understand what they were saying, but the body language and the looks were extremely obvious and they didn't even bother to hide their behaviour. It was very unpleasant, so at certain point we left. Other staff acted extremely bored and they when you asked for something, they made you feel like "What do you want now, just leave me alone." There were a few exceptions, though, that were nice and helpful, but overall one of the worst services - remember, this was supposed to be a 5* hotel, so this kind of behaviour and type of service is unacceptable. - A lot of stairs. If you have problems with physical activity (due to bad knees, etc.), do not book this hotel. - Bad access to the beach: you need to walk cca. 100 stairs to get there and there is no sandy beach, only rocks. The access to the beautiful sandy beach (Shark's bay) is from one hotel before the Jamahkiri.
Pros: + beautiful view + comfortable beds + excellent dinners

EstoniaThe resort lays on a steep shore and if you have problems with constant climbing the place is not for you. There is No accessible sandy Beach near the resort. Shark Beach next to the Hotel is private and can only be accessed via Beach resort for extra cost. Going out of the resort is only possible by scooter or other transportation. Nothing within walking distance and the steep roads does not invite for a walk. Felt a little bit deserted but overall was nice
Spacious and clean rooms, amazing ocean view. Im not sure how full the Hotel was, we hardly saw any other guests during our stay. Luckily for us it meant the pool was not crowded at all and there was always plenty of sunchairs to choose from. Great snorkeling right in front of the resort. We saw nice fish and a turtle. Breakfast was good.

AustraliaRoom was comfortable, amazing sea view and clean. Just a bit outdated. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool area is great and there is a small beach you can snorkel from connected to the resort. Main downside is feels like the resort is trying to get more money from guests all the time. Since it's far from any other restaurants/cafes, food and drinks at the hotel are expensive and taste is just okay, very westernized. Snorkeling equipment also costs extra. Lose a key card or a towel, extra money. Would be nice if the shuttle to the island center ran more often. You can also reach the center with a motorbike but the road leading to the resort is very steep so only for experienced riders.

SpainThe road to the hotel is very tricky and dangerous because its very high up and the fact that you need to climb a minimum of 50 stairs in order to get anywhere around the hotel but thats also the beauty of this place so its hard to put it under the cons
The design of the hotel is absolutely spectacular! Its a work of art and amazing views from every angle! However, you better be very fit because you will have to be climbing hundreds of stairs up and down every day :) after 2 days you are going to wish that you did not forget something in your room and have to come back hahah
