How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Despite our room being ready and having returned from the volcano camping a little weary, we weren’t allowed in our room. The owner tried to charge us $5 dollars more for an early check-in otherwise we had to come back at 3.30pm. Not a huge amount of money but it felt calculated which we didn’t like.
The room was clean and the aircon was a much welcomed relief from the heat.

We accidentally booked a room without air conditioning and the heat was absolutely unbearable we couldn't sleep at all. I understand this is not the hostels fault however the fan in the room didn't help the situation at all, it was actually cooler outside!
Good location in La Union. Basic but has what we needed for one night.

It was a little expensive for what you got, but the a/c was a must in La Union and the room was fine and clean. One member of staff was particularly kind in cleaning our room for us so that we could check in early. However, there was some unnerving behaviour at night from either another guest or a member of staff - it was not made clear who by the hotel - which affected our stay and our ease in the property. May have been a one-off but the hotel’s handling of the situation was a little strange.

Cold showers, not much facilities
The place is ideal and good value for a quick visit to La Union. It certainly isn’t the nicest place but is in a great location, comfortable beds, good wifi and the staff are very nice! All at a very reasonable price. Ticks the boxes for what we needed before our boat trip. They also let us store our luggage there in the day

The buildings trap heat and being without AC is hard!! No seating area also in the compound, though there is a kitchen
Super close to immigration and the dock for transport out of the country. Bed is comfortable, price is good value for private room.

Very very hot. No kitchen.
Staff were very friendly. Room was clean. Great value for money. Near the park which is the main place you'll want to visit if you have some time to kill here.

There is no door to the bathroom. WiFi is not reaching furthest rooms.
Staff is very helpful, room was nice and clean. They let us leave our luggage there when we went for overnight tour.

It’s just a room with a bathroom, so not facilities like a kitchen.
The people working were lovely. They let us store our bags.

There were a lot of ants in our room, and the window in the bathroom looked directly into the courtyard (with nothing to cover it) so I didn't feel comfortable showering there. The room was also extremely hot with only a fan, so pay the extra for the Aircon room!
Location was good and the outdoor space was nice to sit and relax! The room itself was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

None, a nice addition would be some more chairs or a hammock to sit outside
Very kind staff, we felt really welcome! It is really hot in la union but they gave us an extra, extra big ventilator. Bathroom is clean and new!

The Fan was really weak, so it was very hot... but they have AC in another room, which costs more (we booked the cheapest) And there could have been more seating options, or generally something to be outside the room
The room is perfect for the price, comfortable bed and bathroom. The owners are super friendly, always helpful and even shared their kitchen with us! All in all nice stay if you are in La Unión :) Muchas gracias por todo !

Gravel entrance yard space. Single lot.

The staff went in to our room whilst we were out and took away our air conditioner remote. When we asked for it back they said it was $5 to get it back. We were already paying $27 for the stay and it was very hot and very uncomfortable. Staff were not friendly :( Be careful of hidden fees when we booked it said it was $23 and we were charged $27

Nobody in their right mind would come to La Union or pay 30usd for such accommodation. Not worth more than 10usd, let alone 30... sadly, there are no better places to stay. Not clean, small space.
Close to the immigration office. Wifi good. Nothing else.
