I stayed at this hotel twice, and am combining reviews. My rooms were of different quality, but price was the same. Reception has to be a lot more efficient. Additionally, first time they wanted to change me higher price than listed on Booking, and the issue dragged.

Friendly staff and also arrange a very friendly transfer who was waiting for us at the airport. Clean room, Really good location which is a short safe walk into the centre. Large on-suite. Aircon.

I would highly recommend staying at Sweet Guesthouse. I stayed for one night. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the room was spacious and clean, and the location was great. The guesthouse also arranged an airport collection for me and the driver was waiting for me with a sign. This was such great value for money and I will be recommending to anyone I meet who is planning to travel to Sao Tome.

The hotel could be more to international standards with a few improvements: 1. Guests should be given a bottle of water at check-in, and one bottle per night. It's the only hotel I've ever encountered where you have to go outside to buy water. When we first arrive, we do not have dobras or even know where to go to get water. At the least it could be available for a small charge. 2. Rooms would be more comfortable with a mirror. The only one was above the sink in the bathroom. Also bedside table lamp only functioned by being plugged/unplugged (no switch). 3. Reception needs to have more change available in euros. You can sell more chocolate bars if you have euros as change (and it's worth it to buy them here, directly from the on-site chocolate factory, as the same bars that cost 5 euros at the reception cost 8 euros at the airport). 4. Policy of charging a FULL night for late check-out is not to international standards. Because the TAP flight arrives in the evening - and guests going for that flight depart at 5pm - the rooms can easily be flipped and resold to the next set of arriving guests and should be available for 50% of the room rate, depending on availability. 5. Guests not speaking Portuguese will struggle unless they happen to encounter the one employee who can speak English. Good that a French/Arabic speaker has recently been hired to bridge communication gaps, and he is wonderfully helpful.

The room is clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning functions well. The roof deck, common kitchen and spa for massage (!) are a nice bonus. Convenient location for walking, and also space to park a car.

That there is no restaurant inside so one has to go out for dinner. But for those who would like to cook, there is an equipped kitchen with tables for one to cook and eat.

Excellent choice. Clean, safe, very nice staff. Comfortable beds. They even have a chocolate factory inside the hotel which gave an amazing smell going up and down the stairs.

Sweet Guest House is a well-maintained and comfortable guest house located just outside the center of Sao Tome city. The rooms are simple, but clean, with good Wi-Fi and A/C. A basic breakfast is offered every morning and daily cleaning of the rooms is provided. I enjoyed my 4-day stay at Sweet Guest House and will return next time I'm in Sao Tome.

The policies of this hotel are very inflexible. I asked to extend my check-out time for two hours, and they said this would require paying for an additional night... Also, the reception is not always staffed.

Upon checking out, one of the staff members told me to be at the airport at least 2 hours in advance, which is simply not true. The airport wasn't even open, and there were stray dogs outside. They should learn better how the airport works to avoid creating discomfort (and waste time) for their guests. Also, the 10 euro airport transfer is too expensive for the distance. Location is OK but a bit of a long walk from the city centre.

Rooms are very clean. The shower was nice and hot, but the water pressure was sometimes very low.

My room was near some water pump installation, so whenever someone used the bathroom, there was a weird sound, but I guess it can't be helped. Staff wasn't very forthcoming during my stay and had to be chased down for any request, but they were nice and helpful enough when I did find them.

Spotless rooms, with aircon and very good internet, nice public areas and the option to use the kitchen. Airport pickup went without a hitch. I found the area around perfectly safe even at night, even as a solo female traveller. The nicer restaurants are about a 15-20 minute walk away, but there's a corner shop and several bakeries close by.

I wouldn't recommend to take the breakfast there, it's rather small and expensive for Sao Tome.
