How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

In our room there were hundeerda of mosquitos, even with the windows closed. It was a real nightmare

It is likely that they entered when the doors to the balcony were left open or the window with the lights on; otherwise, it would have been difficult for them to get in.Our cleaning team is always ready for assistance in managing the situation, as lowering the air conditioning temperature below 20°C can effectively eliminate the insects. Verified reviewThe pool was really nice. The breakfast was very good - amongst the best food i had during all my stay in the island. Bed was comfy.
The shower would flood every time we used it for longer than 5 minutes. We found a cockroach but we understand that the climate is prone to that type of thing.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay! The hotel is in a convenient location near the airport, which made our travel really easy. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety. The outdoor area was a nice place to relax, and to top it off, we got a upgrade for a small fee. The staff were friendly and attentive, excellent service all around.
Rooms are a tiny bit outdated.

Verified reviewThe hotel manageress, Delfina, was very helpful, friendly and great to speak to. She set the standard for her staff to follow. Rooms facing inward to the garden and pool are the best. Handy for the airport and the beach is literally across the road. We were warned about the island being "cash" only" but the hotel takes cards and there is an ATM on the hotel property which worked with a UK debit card. The hotel organised car hire for us which went smoothly. Shame you cannot say that about the roads!
A bit concerned when the water went off on our first morning , as it did most days but it was soon restore so no real problem. Menu for food and drink required a QR code reader. I would have preferred a written menu but I then realised the QR reader helped the waiters who had limited English as they could see the Portuguese translation.

Verified reviewThe place was really quiet though we stayed Sunday night so that might have been why. Breakfast truly was delicious, and the service was excellent. There was a complementary shuttle to the airport which was appreciated too.
The Booking.com page suggests that there are wellness services available, like a massage, though this is not the case, there is no spa/wellness service. 50% of my decision to stay here was based on the idea I would have a massage in the morning, which turned out not to be the case, so that was most disappointing.

Verified reviewVery convenient location for airport hotel. All the basics are in place. Food is good, breakfast is also very good. Staff is pleasant.
Late check out was a problem unfortunately but could stay on the premises. The room looked tidy but on closer inspection not very clean. Drinking water was also limited.

There isn't really anything within walking distance, and you wouldn't swim in the beach outside.

Verified reviewA typical small resort hotel situated around a central pool, and could be anywhere in the world. Useful last night stay before flying out of Sao Tome back home. More honest prices in the restaurant than some of the other eating locations around the city.
Lacks a bit of charm and character. Most clients catch the early evening TAP (Lisbon or Accra) flight out from the island, yet the hotel wanted us to check out by 11 am or pay an additional 125 Euro for a late check out! Strange attitude as only a third of the rooms were occupied and few would arrive before that evening's inward flight. For both breakfasts whilst we were there, the hot food (fried/scrambled eggs, etc) was placed in cold 'hot plates' and soon lost thier temperature. Rainsing this matter with the kitchen and hotel management brought no response! It served to underline the indifference of the overall service throughout the hotel.
Thank you for choosing to visit São Tomé. We regret your evaluation and the apparent dissatisfaction expressed. It seems that your comments stem from the expectation that, due to the TAP flight's evening departure, the room should have been available beyond the standard checkout time. If this were the case, managing a hotel would be quite challenging, especially considering your view that improvements are needed. Verified reviewThe gardens and pool are lovely. The staff is helpful and well trained. The breakfast buffet, with tropical fruit, is great. They were able to store one of my bags when I did a three day excursion to Príncipe.
There is a beach directly in front of the hotel but I didn’t swim there. There are better beaches out of town.
