Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe rooms was rather small, however we were not in our room most of the time so it did not influence the overall experience of our stay :)
Lovely stay at Holland Lodge. Lucy gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel at home straightaway. Very quiet, cozy boutique hotel with a nice pool. Extra plus: They are eco friendly (refilling water, choosing your breakfast the day before to minimize waste etc.)

NetherlandsOur room was a little small, so no real wardrobe there, but we knew that before. There are bigger rooms. If you travel around and use this hotel as a base it’s no big deal. If you want to stay there all the time, ask for a larger room.
Everything you need is here. A cozy place with nice breakfast, a Good bed, really EXCELLENT AIRCO and WiFi, good location in Paramaribo and most important of all, just EXCELLENT SERVICE. Really all staff are amazing, informative and always available for help, questions and/or extra requests. Really they go out of their way to make you comfortable. It’s like others before us mentioned in the guest book: one feels at home, it’s like visiting family. It’s a good 3 star place, nicely kept with little pool, lounge area and breakfast area in one. The gardener is amazing! He keeps the place so nice with all the several plants and flowers. The receptionists, the cleaning, the breakfast lady, the night porters are also wonderful. They bring you what you need before you can ask. The owner of this family-run hotel is also often there for information and service. Upon request he prepared us an amazing dinner. We had a great stay and cannot wait to return.

Small family run hotel with basic but clean rooms. However, what sets this hotel apart is the wonderful open air dining/lounge area with a pool, lush plants and chirping birds. A little Garden Eden in Paramaribo. Staff (e.g. Lucie) are just great, helpful and accomodating.

United KingdomI wish I could have stayed longer!
Before I even got there they were very communicative and friendly, and organised an airport transfer for me. As soon as I arrived they gave me a delicious welcome juice, and my room was already nice and cold from the AC (much needed in the kind of heat they have here!) For the duration of my stay every member of staff was so friendly, chatting to me, giving me recommendations, and making me feel very welcome. The room was lovely and clean and well equipped, most importantly with a powerful AC and a decent sized fridge! The communal living/restaurant area downstairs was great to sit in, lots of choices of places to sit (including a hanging egg chair which was my personal favourite), with great WiFi. Also a good location near lots of shops and restaurants, and close to lots of the sights of Paramaribo. All for a much better price than the Marriott/Torarica resort/etc.

United StatesI absolutely loved my stay at the Holland Lodge. The staff was so kind and accommodating, it felt like a visit with family or friends. Colleagues of mine stayed at a larger chain hotel, and I was so happy that I chose to stay at the Holland Lodge. It felt as though I experienced more of the city and culture with the people here.

United StatesThis was our first time in Suriname and we were blown away by our stay at Holland Lodge. 1) The staff was exceptional! Before our arrival, they helped us with an airport transfer (the airport is FAR from the city, spring for the transport!). During our stay they helped us do laundry for a reasonable price, helped us order food when we arrived late, and also helped us book a dolphin cruise last minute. Even more so they went above and beyond. I got a pretty nasty infection the day before we left for the interior and Sherona helped me find a doctor, called her on my behalf, and helped me set up the my appointment- truly incredible service! Then we ordered food a second time and were told by Pizza Hut they would take my visa credit card upon delivery. This was untrue but Lucy at the front desk immediately stepped in, paid him in cash on our behalf and put it on our room bill- absolutely amazing service! 2) This place was CLEAN- like clean clean. The sheets were spotless, the room was white glove clean which we really appreciated. 3) Breakfast- Breakfast was 12USD to add on which seemed steep but it was so nice not to worry about it in the morning and the food was fantastic. We truly appreciated our stay and the staff is truly who blew this place out of the water! Incredible. We hope to visit again!

NetherlandsNothing to dislike here, but I do recommend the larger downstairs rooms that give direct access to the garden and pool.
I've been around the world (60 countries), but never felt at home abroad more than here due to the friendly atmosphere The manager and staff were exceptional. We spent a lot of time chatting with them and other guests around the well kept garden and pool. With a lovely old style charm, the property was squeaky clean. The little library on the second floor landing was a nice touch. Even though we’d planned to book a famous 5 star hotel after our inland tour in Suriname, this is where we’ll return for its value for money!
