How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation & dinner in the restaurant.
Aircon wasn’t working. Reception on arriving at the hotel was lukewarm. I wasn’t sure if we were dealing with a member of staff or a customer. Bedroom was extremely dated. Holes in the bedspread. Shower head fell off several times. Toilet roll holder was clinging to the wall. Curtain didn’t fit the window. Missing slat in the shutters. Breakfast was extremely poor. No milk. No fresh fruit. Owner had to go out on his scooter for more bread!!

Verified reviewThe location is very nice, just 2 minutes walk form the cable car. That means if you want to spend most of your time on the mountain in the city center, you should book something there, but if you prefer a quiet environment, but still easy access to the center, this is perfect for you. The room was comfortable, the staff was nice, and the breakfast was okay. Air conditioning worked perfectly.
The water pressure was too low in the shower, which can be annoying if you want to take a great shower at the end of your sweaty day.

Verified reviewThe location was very good if you want to visit historic part of Sanmarino. There was a parking available and the room was of a good size, maybe a bit worn-out but clean. The restaurant was good.
There was a smell in the bathroom all the time, seems there were some problems with the plumbing. When we arrived for the breakfast (before 9:00 am), almost everything was finished and the staff was not eager to refill even the limited amount of products available.

Verified reviewThe biggest SCAM and the greatest discrepancy with the booking confirmation sent by Booking.com. Instead of the promised 20 square meters room, in reality, there is a 'large' 9 square meter room, where two people cannot pass each other normally. Upon arrival at the hotel, the room's heating radiator was so hot that it couldn't be touched... the room was about +39 C (outside temperature +34 C). The air conditioning was not working because the remote control was missing. After discussions at the hotel reception, the issues with the heating automation and air conditioning were resolved. Next, the troubles began with the shower cabin. Water wouldn't drain from it... I had to clean the pre-drain filter of the shower cabin myself, from which hair accumulated over at least 1.5 years from half of Europe was moved to the waste bucket! Unfortunately, our adventure did not end there. The next disappointment was the 'great breakfast', which consisted of stale white bread, sliced boiled ham, and cheese. If there were still any wishes after all that, then the breakfast offer still included yogurt in a 125-gram plastic packaging, coffee (which was surprisingly good compared to the general standard), and sweetened drinks made from 100% juice concentrate. The only thing that fully lived up to the promise was the location of this hotel and the sufficient opportunities to park the car a few dozen meters away from the hotel.

Verified reviewHost were friendly and helpful. Please be aware to reach the accommodation from the town centre bus station is like this and Do not follow the route given by Google maps: head to the furnicular station, take the furnicular down (pay only one way as you will get discounted ticket for staying at the hotel later), once you exit the furnicular station take a right, cross the street and you will see a restaurant with the hotel name. Go inside, the check in counter should be next to the bar.
AC is not properly working (like not cold) so we had to play around with the setting and also open the window at times as it was hot.

Verified reviewWe stayed 2 nights in Hostaria da Lino which is on great location, the staff is also very very nice, helpful & friendly 🤗 breakfast is good, the food in restaurant was also very tasty. Free parking was in front of hotel. We recommend this place.
The room in which we stayed would need some refreshment in terms of furniture & cleaning. But we were in room only for sleeping so it was ok for us 🤗

Verified reviewThe hotel is strategically located, very close to the bottom station of the Funivia di San Marino (Cable Car). The hotel staff is nice and helpful. The room facilities were quite okay, the bathroom very nice.
Couldn't control the air conditioning in the room, which is necessary after closing the window due to noise from the nearby bar. The receptionist tried in vain to find the remote control for the air conditioning, but was unsuccessful.
