Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI've done lots of wild camping so an not overally concerned with the mod cons but a good scrub would just elevate their rating.
This is certainly a unique stay but I'm not sure it would appeal to those who like a spick and span hotel experience. The exterior of the hotel is visually amazing and the interior is full of colour. I was out and about so saw little of the staff but those I did see were very friendly. Excellent location for public transport. Water was hot, bed was comfy.

IranSome of the sheets or curtains would be great if they were new.
Of course, it doesn't always happen that you can live in a painting, a good choice for a few reasons to stay in Bratislava. Intimate environment, clean restrooms and bathrooms, and a quiet night

AustriaWhat I missed is a key for the front door, you have to tell the reception if you return late so they can let you in. A key card or code would be a more pleasant solution. The all over idea of the hotel may be nice, but it seems some parts could need a refurbishmnent and cleaning.
I was looking for an accomodation in Bratislava, next to a concert venue I attended. The good: It is very close to the train station, the city can be reached by footwalk (follow the tram line), so no public transport is necessary. And the area is real quiet, you sleep well, you even go for a hike the hills around in the morning or evening and enjoy a view over Bratislava. Check in, check out without problems. The hotel all in all is "different" as some of the reviews show, be aware of that. If you like the style, you can see in the pictures, you may be happy.

LithuaniaIn the hotel, an older man was very awkward and creepy. A strange situation occurred: before going to sleep, I put my phone to charge, but when I woke up in the morning, the charger was unplugged and neatly placed on the table. Additionally, during the night, whether it was a dream or not, I saw a person and started screaming. The room had a balcony that connected to another room, and the balcony door was quite broken. I suspect that someone entered the room in the middle of the night
I like the style of the building and that's it

RomaniaThe owner/host seems like a person that might offer you psychedelic substances in a festival. The rooms look like they were designed in such a festival. However there are spider webs and bugs on some places of the rooms, they are not clean and the furniture is broken. We spent a night only because it was so late when we arrived that we did not have the energy to sleep outside. I would nor recommend this place to any sound minded person. The host also asked for a 20 euro warranty that was not mentioned in the booking agreement. He did remember eventually to give it back in the morning.
The art would be interesting if it were well maintained.

New ZealandYou don't get a key to the front door. So it's like a curfew system... you have to be home by a certain time. You need your own key to the front door or a pin and an electronic door with pin code. House keeping girls are very friendly and kind and very very clean rooms. Great cleaning standards 10 out of 10 - brilliant!
Cleaning staff, were very kind. Nice young lady with brown hair was very friendly and kind and chatted to me. I own a home in Prague and she lived in Prague for 15 years.

SpainI didn't like depending on availability of staff at nights to enter. It's true that when I needed to ring I only waited a couple of minutes, but having to wait 5-10 mins in that lonely road is understandably much for some people, and I believe it can happen. The lack of AC, even if not expected in an "alternative" place is too much for the heat Bratislava is facing this summer. A fan per room, even a cheap one, would be ok I guess, as a detail. But I managed opening the window :) The place is not recommended for people who struggle with walking up, but it's not a long distance for anyone with no trouble (around 10mins from hlavna stanica).
The place was definitely interesting, enough freedom for a (experienced) solo traveller and the bed was comfortable. The bathtub water faucet was a bit picky regarding temperature, but huh, I guess it's just a minor issue, for the rest the bathroom was good enough. The windows had a net against mosquitoes, so it was possible to open it at night :)

NetherlandsThe communication was not easy. They don’t speak english very well and are not well organised. The room was big but there were holes in the sheets. Also I don’t need a duvet when its 36 degrees. A sheet is enough. The mattress was also not great. I would not go there again and not recommend it to my friends.
The building is beautiful. The room was big. You can make coffee and tea in the kitchen.
