How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewLovely property with plenty of charm and character and very nice staff. Different from any of the standard bland chains. The room was big and I also had a balcony. Breakfast was great - good mix of buffet and made to order and you can choose to eat in the garden or inside. The garden and the decoration makes this property stand out. A room and hotel I'd be happy to spend time relaxing in. The property is on the outskirts of the town, which is only 15 to 20min walk from the old town. But considering how small the old town is, it's further out than a lot of hotels but I think the character of the property and garden makes up for it. Tram stops are only a few minutes walk away.
My room was a little tired - could do with new towels and carpet is getting a bit old. But were very clean so not a major worry for me.

Verified reviewConsidering that you are almost in the center of the city, you can have breakfast in a nice and quiet garden. Moreover Breaksfast itself is very good, you can choose fresh prepared things that you can order and in addition you have something from buffet. Rooms and all structure are very clean even if inside an old palace.
If you decide to have breakfast in the garde, you cannot choose the place but is pre-assigned. Since in my case I was "single", my table was not really the best position (right in the entrance/passage near a wall). Car Parking, I forgot to ask about it when arrived and recepionist didn't ask me, despite of appearances you cannot leave the car along the street of Hotel. I didn't know it and I risked to pay a penalty.

As for parking, we’re sorry for the confusion. While street parking may look available, it’s unfortunately restricted by city regulations. Bed was not so comfortable, pillows were very thin so I had to use 2, tv in the room is small.

Verified reviewThe concept of the property is very good and I really enjoyed my three nights stay there. My room was spacious and clean with two large and bright windows overlooking a manicured garden that represents a true value of this place. Quite an oasis in the city. The quality of the night rest was great and overall interaction with the staff was up to high levels. It is not exactly centrally located, but with a negligible effort it is so easy to reach the center by a tram or even on foot. It is a very good detail that the central bus station - Nivy is located on less than 1 kilometers of distance on the flat terrain. The ratio of what was paid and what was received is ideal. There is no doubt that Hotel Arcus Garden will be my place of choice when I visit Bratislava again.

The hotel receptionist doesn’t seem cooperative. Once you make the payment, you are at your own. Hotel TV was too old and top of that it doesn’t play any channel. They should remove the TV or put some smart TV.

I was there during a time where the temperature was hot and having air conditioning would have made the stay more comfortable but in fairness I am sure they stated that they didn’t have ac but I didn’t realize it nor did I realize how hot it would be in Bratislava in June.

Verified reviewNice hotel. Good location. You can enjoy the silence or walk 5-10 minutes to the bustling street with restaurants, bars and entertainments. Most of the tourist sights are within 10 - 30 minutes walk from the apartment. Spacious and clean room. Comfortable bed and pillows. WI-FI work very well. Own parking (15 euros). We were there on the weekend and left the car on the street (free for weekends). The street looks quiet and safe. Breakfast in the beautiful garden or inside. Choose from the menu and a delicious and fresh breakfast will be prepared especially for you. Check-in at 13:30 and check-out at 11:00. Check-in and check-out - 2 minutes No problem with payment. Friendly and helpful hotel staff.

We had 2 single night stays at the start and end of our trip. The first night had just a handheld shower in a bath, not good. Both stays the tv in the room was difficult to switch on and the picture froze so it was impossible to watch.
