How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery central location, super friendly and helpful staff and excellent breakfast!
Our rooms on the fifth floor were only accessible through some small stairs which was a bit of a hassle with the suitcases.

Verified reviewThe hotel is well positioned in the main square. The coffee machine in the room was supplied with 6 capsules instead of the usual 4.
This was a truly appalling experience. The ‘suite’ is 2 very small rooms connected by a corridor. The single air conditioning unit is in the corridor, and even with the doors to both rooms open, it is not powerful enough to cool both the rooms. We were travelling with our kids, so there was also no privacy. The bed in the bedroom has an extremely poor mattress, and the mattress on the sofa bed in the living room is just terrible. There are just sheets on the beds. We found duvets with no covers in the cupboards. Given the dusty state of the unit I very much doubt the duvets are being washed between guests. The furniture is all cheap beige mdf. The bathroom hasn’t been updated in decades. The bathroom’s mdf vanity unit has swollen and delaminated. The bath is half sized. The tiles on the wall are brown, pale blue, and pink. Do not be fooled into thinking that the inclusion of the word ‘art’ in the hotel’s name means that this unit is decorated with any style. At 11:15am, after a shocking night’s sleep, we were packing up and getting ready to leave when the door buzzer rang and a staff member presented herself at the door. The ensuing exchange was surreal. We hadn’t reserved a late check out (check out is 11), our continued presence in the room was unacceptable, and she let her annoyance been known with a great deal of spluttering, huffing and puffing. The poor lady really should be in a back office position where she wouldn’t be troubled with customer facing tasks. Please note that this review is for the one bedroom suite, or Tartini Residence, which is not in the main building of the hotel itself.
Dear Justin, Thank you for your detailed feedback. I am truly sorry that your stay did not meet expectations. The apartment (not suite) you stayed in is part of our Tartini Residence, which is a separate building from the main hotel, and I regret that this distinction was not made clear enough during booking. Your concerns about air conditioning, bedding, furniture, and bathroom condition are valid, and we will carefully review them with our team to make improvements. I also apologize for the unpleasant check-out interaction — this is not the level of service we want to deliver. We sincerely appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention, and I apologize again for the disappointment. Warm regards, Rudi, General Manager

Verified reviewThe bed was comfortable, breakfast was good with a lot of variety, and the staff were helpful.
Art Hotel Tartini had very poor signage. It was hard to find. There was a very faded hotel name on the front of the building and a small sign maybe 10”by 7” on the side entrance. Some care was needed around the bathroom door as the frame was not attached to the wall.

Verified reviewI've had a postcard view on the castle from one of the centuries-old houses, what can be cooler? The noise insulation is really good, all these restaurants below generate a lot of noise, but i barely heard them (used earplugs anyway, but I'm a very sensitive person). I had more problems with morning noises from inside the hotel actually, the inner space resonates a lot unfortunately. The room had a plenty of space, the bathroom was really big. The bed is comfortable. Can recommend a pizza restaurant which is a breakfast place at morning.
Wi-Fi was barely working in my room, couldn't use it at all. Also a room scent was quite irritating, causing a cough (i have asthma).

Verified reviewLocation very good but Piran very busy overall..Staff and breakfast ok.
Extremely basic room decor. Overly clinical without quality. Like a cheap IKEA 60 minute makeover. The hotel overall attempts a contemporary arty style but this gets less attention the further up the building you go.. Our most expensive yet most disappointing stay out of 8 hotels over a fortnight in Slovenia..

Verified reviewThe location on the square is excellent. With the balcony doors shut you don't really hear the street noise but they do provide earplugs. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast plentiful. Staff were all friendly and helpful
I understand travelling in high season there is a premium cost however when we walked into the room, we felt we were in an Ikea flatpack set up. It would have been nice if both sides of the bed had a plug for phone charging. One side had 2 plugs and one was under the desk. The bathroom sink with vanity does not work. The vanity structure is so large that you cannot lean over the sink to wash your face or shave properly, end up with water on yourself and the floor. The rooms are small.
