Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryThe style and furnishing of the room differed from the one in the photo in booking’s website. This was combined with smell of cigarette. I am enclosing the pictures and everyone can decide how he/she feels about the difference.
Hotel Marko has a wonderful garden, very professional and friendly staff, super clean facilities, great variety breakfast and perfect location on the coastline.

United StatesThis is not the only hotel that charges parking in Portoroz but it still doesn’t make sense having to pay for it.
Older but wonderfully maintained hotel. Care is evident on the every corner. The staff is courteous and friendly, breakfast fresh and plenty of choices. Bus stop to Piran is next to hotel.

United KingdomOld-fashioned elegance. Delightful gardens, well shaded by beautiful trees, scattered with deckchairs , overlooking the sea. A wonderful terrace for breakfast. Best position of any hotel in Portoroz, as no buildings or clubs between hotel and sea. Balcony room overlooking sea was superb.

SerbiaWe booked room with terrace/balcony, and all the photos on Booking for that room had balcony looking in the beautiful garden, but our room had a balcony that was looking at the wall of the building. Since this was the main feature why we booked the room I was thinking of rating it 2-3 stars, because the photos of the booked room should match reality. Staff didn't care so much about it. Nevertheless I wouldn't do it justice if I gave the bad rating, as instead on terrace we were sitting in the hotel's garden and there was great. Keep in mind that hotel is old, and with old vibe in terms of furniture and building, so if you don't like it consider that. But its charm (for those who feel nostalgic) will give you nicer experience then in many modern 5 stars hotel.
Even old looking, hotel was extremely clean. Food was delicious. Frontyard is amazing, and it is next to the sea.

United StatesThe rooms interior furniture has seen better days, but I think there were mentioning of renovations. I hope it doesn't loose it's charm and become one of the chain hotels on the street.
The gardens are gorgeous and the breakfast was marvelous! The staff is outstanding and very friendly. The location is convenient to walk into town but not having to be in town with the noise levels. Walkable to Piran and Fiesa if one desires.

SloveniaThere's not much that I didn't like, minor things which are more options for improvement. Maybe that I couldn't stay longer or maybe I would like for hotel to have whole suite there, or buy additional land to have pool someday etc. These are just improvement ideas, not criticism, because if these things were deterministic, I would probably have picked a hotel that offered that. So I can't think of anything that I didn't like in my stay, because this hotel is very charismatic, homey, warm, welcoming, and special. I wish that business-wise someday they maybe expand their offer and become a 5-star hotel, because they definitely have the option for that. The only hotel that can compete with them regarding to its elegance and beauty for me is the Palace, and that's about it.
I like the intimacy of the hotel, how it seems like it's located in the heart of nature, while in fact you are in concrete jungle, as locals would say. No other hotel in the vicinity has such a beautiful garden, and this is the reason why I came back. The facility is located at the center, so if you don't want to waste your time driving down from the hill, you just want to go out for a evening walk and have beach on the palm of your hand, this location is ideal. The hotel feels like Art Deco building, which gives it that romantic feeling when you arrive to it. So even if it's not a luxurious hotel, it's very elegant, and it gives you a feeling of aristocracy. This was my second stay and I picked the room with sea view this time. When I looked at the other reviews, most people were complaining about a tree and how it obstructs the sea view. So I chatted with the room service and the lady explained to us that this tree is very old and it is protected. I actually like the tree very much, because if you want to look at the sea, you can always choose another hotel or walk to it by crossing the street. The point of beauty of this hotel is that it has trees, grass, and nature around it. Birds in the morning when you eat breakfast, etc. My suggestion would be to have some kind of information put up for people to read, what this tree is and what it signifies for this facility, because in my opinion, the tree is very beautiful. It gives a perfect shade, and without it, the hotel or garden wouldn't be what it is. I also really like the staff this time, especially the blonde lady who served us at the table and speaks 4 or 5 languages, which is very, very admirable. She also made great coffee for us.
