How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis was a great spot well located in Ljubljana! Beds were very comfy for a hostel and it was the best I’ve slept in one (also possibly lucky with courteous roommates). The best part was that the beds are quiet, so none of the typical people-shifting-around-all-night creaks. Funny and nice owner/employees too.
Kitchen area closes sort of early (so no common area to hang out later) but not a big deal if the weather’s good as there are plenty of spots outside

Verified reviewcomfortable and walking distance to the main area, receptionist was helping
the check in and reception hours are very short and the rooms are weirdly set up, I did also see a spider in the shower, a bit worse located than other hostels, no curtains on the beds

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved this hostel! It’s so close to the old town, but just a little outside of it, which allows you to enjoy a quieter and more authentic part of Ljubljana. There’s a supermarket 2 minutes away and the kitchen has everything you need to cook. Aleks was great, very welcoming and full of advice. The place was always spotless. 100% recommend!
It’s a bit of a walk from the bus/train station and the 6 bed female dorm was clearly only intended for 4, so it was a bit crammed. Nothing bad tho, I would stay again anytime!

Verified reviewGood location. There is a bakery and a nice coffee shop nearby the hostel for breakfast. The hostel has clear rules for the bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom, which are really nice for a hostel. They can accommodate late check-ins with proof of arrival. Alex, in particular, is very helpful and resourceful! :)

Verified reviewEverything was nice, just that check in from 8am-8pm was a bit of a small problem if you need to ask for anything from the front desk.
There is no hairdryer in the bathroom and you need to ask the front desk for it, and they only got one.

Verified reviewGood location, clean and comfortable, very friendly and helpful manager/owner.
This is a hostel, geared towards dormitory stays or small groups. As such, it is an expensive option for a solo traveller looking for a private room. I should have realised this, but I guess I didn’t!

Verified reviewHostel Vrba was very clean and centrally located. The kitchen and bathrooms were sufficient. Aleks is very knowledgeable about the city.
It was quite hot at night. The fans helped but everyone was sweating.

No where to wash and dry your wet gear. Laundry service a little expensive.

Verified reviewThe hostel was clean, the room spacious and the host really gave me loads of tips and ideas to do in Ljubljana which where amazing. The hostel is a bit outside of the center, but it's a nice area, nice to see a bit of Ljubjana without the many tourists. Would stay here again
There could be more showers, especially in the mornings when people have to checkout it was very busy. They were clean though.

Verified reviewVery nice and clean Hostel. Beds are comfy. Few minutes walk to the old town. Some good recommendations for sightseeing, bars and so on.
On the other side of the street are some bars/restaurants, you here the people talking and laughing with an open window in the night.

Verified reviewNice, quiet, small hostel in Ljubljana.
You can only pay for the booking in cash, and there is only one woman working there, so there is not always someone available to help guests.

Verified reviewLocated in very good location walkable from city center also close to river good for walk in the morning. Best part I loved this place was cleaness. When you do check out you need to remove mattress, pillow, bed sheet you used and she will change to new one which I coudln't expect from other hostels. Also in kitchen everyone should wash and dry dishes they used which I feel very good. Host was nice, professional and gave lots of tips to travel Ljubljana. I stayed 3 nights but except one day room was not completely booked so I used alone or with just one girl.
To rent a towel you need to pay so it is better to bring your own.
