We had a great stay at Hostel Mama Minka and liked everything about it! It gave a very homey vibe, Katja showed us around when we checked in and was very friendly when we saw her at other times too, and it was nice to say hello to the other guests (and their dogs!). The breakfast was lovely and all guests sat around a big table in the dining area. Having a parking space was very convenient. We were able to do our laundry as well which saved us from driving out. We didn't notify of our arrival time in advance, so no one was around when we arrived, and we do not have a local phone number so were unable to call, but Katja was very responsive on Booking which made it very easy. Overall, would highly recommend a stay here if you are in the Bohinj area!

Very cute small hostel, super friendly and helpful staff, delicious home-made local breakfast, great location as it is close to the lake Bohinj as well as Bled, Gorge Vintgar etc. Overall a great value for money.

There was only one downside, which was the poor noise distribution in the house. Basically you could hear anyone in the house if they were a little louder. Fortunately we didn't have problems with others being too noisy after 22:00 but still.

The village is really beautiful and peaceful. It is close to both lake Bohinj and Bled. The owner is really enthusiastic and helpful. The parking is free.

Brilliant place with uberfriendly staff and atmosphere. Room was very clean and comfy. Common areas not only clean but also very functional. Brekfast was really good with a lot of choices and homemade products too. Would recommend and happily stay again :)

One of the best accomodations we’ve ever stayed at! Everything was superb - the friendliest and most helpful hosts, delicious and filling breakfast spread each morning, spotlessly clean all the time, easy parking, amazing location near a lot of amazing hikes, Lake Bohinj only 10min away by car, Bled 20min by car, and loads more. Bedroom was spacious with storage and a great balcony. Heater for warmth was very effective, but the hostel was cosy so not required. Shared kitchen was fully equipped with anything you could need, and living spaces were cosy, clean, and decorated in a very homely manner. And on top of that - excellent value for money! Couldn’t recommend this hostel higher, we hope to return!

I love this place!!! Such a welcoming and warm place. It felt like a home! Well, it used to her grandma's home... Definitely not a "traditional hostel". It has a small capacity ; there are a couple of dorms and a couple of (double) rooms. Katja, the owner, is very friendly and gave me great recommendations for dining and sight-seeing. It's also a pet-friendly place. A couple of nights some guestrs had their dogs and Katja left dog treats for them on the breakfast table! Such a lovely gesture! Breakfast had several options. Fresh bread every morning! Katja also makes her own yogurt, which she serves for breakfast. They provide free towels (that's extra points for a hostel) and there are even shampoos and shower gels for guests. Very clean place, too!

The atmosphere at Hostel Mama Minka is very friendly and the owners make you feel at home. The place is great, they also offer bikes for rent and a good place to rest after long walks/tours. We met some amazing people too. My boyfriend and I had only booked one night, but we liked the place so much that we used it as a base for a few days to explore the mountains and lakes, that we stayed for 3 nights in total. That's why we highly recommend you spend one or more nights there.
