How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We were a bit disappointed with our stay at Hotel Histrion, as the level of service did not meet what we would expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff did only what was necessary, without any extra effort to make guests feel welcome—not even a smile. There was no sport or cultural programme offered, and when we asked for recommendations about activities in the area, the staff seemed surprised by the question and unable to provide any advice. In the restaurant, the staff were not particularly pleasant or kind, and what was especially disturbing was the loud noise they made with plates and cutlery when clearing tables. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, especially in comparison with other, even lower-rated hotels such as those from the Valamar group in Croatia, where service and hospitality were much warmer and more guest-oriented.

Room was not perfectly clean when we checked in. There were 2 long hairs on the extra bed as well as hair in the bathroom and other parts of the room that were not well cleaned. Breakfast ends at 10am However the staff starts removing the food at 9:50am.

Verified reviewLarge buffet for breakfast. Rooms were very nice and updated. We were able to have adjoining rooms for our family of 5 with balconies overlooking the water. Location was OK but there is a shuttle to Piran nearby which we used quite a bit.
Area was super touristy and not near the towns, but the shuttle worked well for us.

There is no lift direct to 3rd floor. So if you have big suitcases you need to carry them via the stairs for at least one floor.

Verified reviewIt is in a great, quiet location. The indoor pools are sea water. My daughter preferred the pool, my partner preferred the sea. Piran and Portoroz centers are within walking distance.
The bathroom is really tiny, but that's only annoying because everything gets wet when you shower 🤣.

This didn’t bother us at all (as we like walking) - the hotel is around 1.5kms from Piran (there is a shuttle bus) and 2kms from Portaroz. You are restricted to the hotel/complex facilities otherwise. Dinner was expensive

Staff, value for money, parking

However, we are proud to be able to offer our guests free parking, which has become quite rare in many holiday destinations today. While the parking is not always directly adjacent to the hotel building, our dedicated bellboys are always available to assist guests with their luggage and to guide them to the nearest available spots. Verified reviewIts in a good location with several facilities, its kids friendly, the food was good .
There was no minibar, and water cattle boiler in the room, but it was possible to request the water cattle. I thought for a 4 star hotel its the minimum to have these and a coffee machine in the room. Other that this the swimming pool water was really cold, the outdoor pool (which is supposed to be a kids pool) was really cold , my 1 year old kid was not able to enter the water.

Parking too far away to carry all bags

big ant problem in our room. we were told we could not change room and instead they ‘cleaned’ the room. the ants returned the same day and we had to request a special clean again the next morning. we were not offered any compensation, reduction or even an apology for this. the quality and freshness of the breakfast is terrible, the spreads are constantly empty and food and glasses are not replaced with enough frequency. dinner buffet has the same problems, is overpriced and you are not told until you are seated that the buffet price does not include any beverages (not even water). hotel guests have to pay 10€ to use a beach umbrella on the hotel’s lounge chairs next to the pool which is ridiculous. the free parking is 500m uphill from the hotel - there is no service for luggage to assist you with this trek. for how expensive this property is, the rooms are so basic. no iron, no kettle, no tea station, and the only toiletries provided are a 3 in 1 soap and shower cap. to top this off, service is not particularly warm and certainly not accommodating when you have issues with your room. i would not recommend anyone stay here.
