Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaWe were a bit disappointed with our stay at Hotel Histrion, as the level of service did not meet what we would expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff did only what was necessary, without any extra effort to make guests feel welcome—not even a smile. There was no sport or cultural programme offered, and when we asked for recommendations about activities in the area, the staff seemed surprised by the question and unable to provide any advice. In the restaurant, the staff were not particularly pleasant or kind, and what was especially disturbing was the loud noise they made with plates and cutlery when clearing tables. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, especially in comparison with other, even lower-rated hotels such as those from the Valamar group in Croatia, where service and hospitality were much warmer and more guest-oriented.
The area is very nice, easy to get to beautiful towns of Piran and Portoroz.

NetherlandsThere is no lift direct to 3rd floor. So if you have big suitcases you need to carry them via the stairs for at least one floor.
The room was comfortable with a nice layout and the location is very convenient to enjoy the sea nearby. Breakfast had enough spread with few healthy options(fruits, eggs, etc.)

HungaryThe bathroom is really tiny, but that's only annoying because everything gets wet when you shower 🤣.
It is in a great, quiet location. The indoor pools are sea water. My daughter preferred the pool, my partner preferred the sea. Piran and Portoroz centers are within walking distance.

United KingdomThis didn’t bother us at all (as we like walking) - the hotel is around 1.5kms from Piran (there is a shuttle bus) and 2kms from Portaroz. You are restricted to the hotel/complex facilities otherwise. Dinner was expensive
Very clean, modern with a large swimming pool and outside activities (cycling, beaches)

HungaryThere was no minibar, and water cattle boiler in the room, but it was possible to request the water cattle. I thought for a 4 star hotel its the minimum to have these and a coffee machine in the room. Other that this the swimming pool water was really cold, the outdoor pool (which is supposed to be a kids pool) was really cold , my 1 year old kid was not able to enter the water.
Its in a good location with several facilities, its kids friendly, the food was good .

HungaryBooking says there is fitness facility - well yes. You can use another hotels facility 300m from Histrion. You cannot unload your car near the hotel. You need to carry your luggage about 50-60m.
Breakfast was excellent, location is excellent (12-15mins walk from both Piran and Portoroz center), car parking is free.

HungaryNot a big issue, but the outside pool and beach were not on hotel property, approx 2 min. walk, so you have to pay for using the sunbeds, doesn’t matter if you are a hotel guest.
Very clean, nice buffet breakfast and dinner, child friendly. The inside wellness was clean and very big. The view is amazing from the balcony. Restaurants and bars are just a 2 min. walk from the hotel.

United KingdomWe were disappointed that you had to pay for sun loungers on the beach front and around d the outdoor pool. As hotel guests I think these should have been complementary. It was also a shame that the pool areas closed at 7pm, in the height of summer this felt too early!
Beautiful location situated between two vibrant towns.

Poland1. The overall property is huge (Histrion and adjacent hotels and villas that make up the complex) which means a lot of people (mostly families) everywhere, incl. at the breakfast which in itself is a bit crazy (good selection of food, but crowded and noisy) 2. No luggage trolleys and no one to help - normally, not a big deal for us but here it’s quite a walk from the parking lot (you cannot park at the entrance to leave your luggage), thru all the corridors to the room - doing it w/o a trolley was an unexpected Hyrox event 3. Indoor Swimming pool closes at 19.00 which is unusually early
Modern hotel, well-maintained rooms, great location. We had a quadruple family room which was clean, spacious and had an exceptional panoramic, unobstracted sea view

United KingdomOutdoor pool is being renovated despite it being shown on the booking.com listing, so you could only use the indoor pools which is a shame when the weather is so good. You can also swim in the sea but it’s not always suitable for small children. Breakfast is ok, nothing spectacular but fine if you are only staying for a few days. Pool towels are not provided but you can pay €3 per towel to use one from the hotel
Location was good, lots of small bars and cafes locally. Close distance to Portoroz - we paid €20 for a taxi for 6 but there is also a bus. Piran is a 20 minute walk but there is bus to there also. The indoor pools are great for kids (albeit very hot if you are not swimming). There is also a small games room and ‘play room’ near reception which both of our children enjoyed.
