    The sea view was breath taking from our room, you can take the elevator down to the hotel's private beach so comfortable. Beautiful surrounding, nice area. Extra comfortable beds, spacious rooms and bathrooms, great breakfast, huge selection of fresh food, local delicacies. Polite and helpful staff, big parking lot. Piran is walking distance away as well as Portoroz's center. We will definitely come again and we totally recommend visiting this hotel.

    We didn't like was the tiny packaged shower gel, shampoo and body lotion. It is not easy to use them, you run out of it quickly and unexpectedly, too much plastic waste. We'd rather prefer pump liquid soap/shower gel/body lotion dispensers in hotels. We traveled with our pet dog and it would be great if the hotel beach - which is pretty big by the way -had a small tiny area where guests could swim with their dogs maybe at the end corner of the beach? There is a designated dog beach (Monty's dog beach&bar) in Portoroz but it is about 3kms away from Grand Hotel Bernardin and not easy to park if you go by car. It would be really comfortable to stay at the hotel the whole day and being able to enjoy the sea with your pet dog. We would have spent way more money in the hotel if we would have been able to stay at the beach the whole day but instead we spent the day at the dog beach. It would be great if Grand Hotel Berndardin would consider this as an option :)

    Nice location, 20 m from the sea, enough sun-beds for everyone. Good food but not as in a Greek or Turkish similar hotel (very little variation between the days)

    The smell on the hallways … that hunted us for the entire stay. Moreover, the first room we got smelled so so bad that we just could not wait for the concierge to come and check (no, it was not coming from the bathroom). Positive: we got an upgrade to a non-smelling, bigger room. Negative: they tried to charge this upgrade at the end of the stay …

    The positive thing is the location of the hotel right on the beach, free parking available, close to the center of Piran and Portoroz. The sea is clean and deep, which is suitable for us, we did not have children with us. The hotel is a large complex, older but the reception is neat and presentable. The staff at the reception was pleasant and helpful. The hotel has a huge restaurant, where there is a large selection of food for breakfast and dinner and if you do not have any allergies, you will definitely choose and be satisfied. However, that is about the only thing that is worth 5 * and the hotel probably relies on the customer to close their eyes above the rest. However, the shortcomings are not covered by the food or the coupons for the thermal baths in the hotel next, which we did not use. This hotel was 5 * maybe in the 80s and 90s, definitely not now.

    The biggest problem was the air conditioning which was very noisy and didn't work properly. After complaining at the reception, the serviceman came within 10 minutes and changed the filter, but he said that the system is set in such a way that it is not possible to have less than 25 degrees, it was 37-38 outside, so changing the room was pointless. I didn't read about this restriction anywhere in the description of hotel and air conditioning is very important to us, this is not a temperature at which you can sleep. We didn't sleep for 4 nights and it really ruined our holiday. This is unacceptable in a 5* hotel. Why do you have a Villeroy & Boch toilet when you have a rusty radiator and a non-functional exhaust fan in the bathroom? The balcony was dirty, the furniture at balcony were dirty from bird droppings. The automatic curtains in the room were disconnected and the strip was taped shut.The beach has 2 parts, VIP and privat. It was impossible to get to the VIP club the whole stay, the young lady said me on Friday morning that it was full until Monday evening. The staff (teenagers) tolerated the occupancy of the sunbeds at 6:30, and even had their own business there, when the first row of sunbeds was covered by them with towels and for tips (5-10€) they gave them to guests who came late. Food – the restaurant is nice and gives the impression of luxury but not for someone with a gluten free diet. Although it was assured by the booking that it is possible to eat gluten free, the reality is different. There is 1 type of bread for breakfast, which really doesn't taste good and was cold/frozen and wet.So I paid 350€/night like everyone else, who had various pastries, desserts, cakes, pancakes and I had disgusting and hard bread. At dinner the same, nothing GF, only vegetables and meat, the other guests had various pastas, lots of desserts, unprofessional in 5* hotel.

    As always Grand Hotel Bernardin was perfect. From first until the last moment everything was as expected and more. Staff is as always very polite and very professional. You get a free parking spot as the hotel guest. Our room was very clean, very comfy and with the best view that you can have in Portoroz/Piran. Private beach with free sun beds and parasols for the guests. Breakfast was very nice, many variations and there is enough choice for every taste. The Grand Cafe is a must. View from above on the whole bay is amazing. Very good coffee and nice cakes. Staff is really more then polite and friendly. Check in and check out went very smooth. This hotel deserves only the best recommendation. We are definitely coming back. Thanks for making our holiday more nice and joyful.

    Great place - nice rooms, sea view, really nice food for breakfast and dinner - lots of choices and variation across days, great location right in front of a beach while it's walking distance to Piran (there are also shuttle buses etc), nice swimming pool, includes passes to Termaris swimming pools, quiet, .. We will definitely come again.

    Not much to report. There is a bit of a smell coming from the bathroom (especially in the morning after we kept the bathroom closed) but this seems to be the issue with the entire area and not this hotel itself.

    Considering its appearance, facilities, and room size, the hotel is more like a three / four star. Therefore, it feels overrated and overpriced

    Beautiful hotel in a great location with stunning views, excellent food, beach and spa.

    In general we liked and enjoyed very much everything! We could only suggest small details to improve to perfection. We travelled with our dog and so the room we got could have been slightly bigger. Unfortunately there were no spots dedicated to families with dogs on the hotel beach, so we had to search daily for other options in the area which were not the same comfort. Hotel beach is very big and I’m sure that a small area with dogs could be set up very easily. Room cleaning service was sometimes chaotic, used towels were gone but not replaced.. And I would definitely recommend to fix dispensers for the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the shower instead of tiny little bottles which are too many, tiny and must be replenished daily. I’m sure this would make guests happy because there are no shops in a short distance to get these things if needed.

    Very close to Piran. Very good parking. Clean rooms. Good selection and plenty of room at meals. Nice view from the balcony. Free umbrella and sunbed. Very clean beach. Helpful staff.

    Cast concrete beach, which can be quite crowded in good weather. Room was small for 3 persons. Expensive drinks at meals.

    I didn't like the food, there are no lactose-free dishes, vegetarian cuisine, milk is added everywhere. the kitchen is not 5 stars, there is not much choice

    All services related to 5star hotel. Private Beach. Tasty food, big variety.

    The temperarure in room was very high - 25degrees Celsius is too much for sleeping - at least for my family. Even when I claimed to hotel that air condition is not working properly, I was informed that air condition si set up form hotel to have the temperature in rooms between 23-25 °C. For me not acceptable for 5star hotel.

    Would always choose this Hotel for a stay in this region! Nothing can beat the location, including free parking, chairs at the beach & umbrellas. Rooms are renovated and all of the have sea view, it’s amazing and that’s why I come back nearly every year!
