How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat value. This is the place to stay if you want to see both Lake Bled and Ljubljana. It is between both places but cheaper, and absolutely beautiful. There is stuff to explore in Škofja Loka and the old town of Puštal. It is a gorgeous place to walk around. There are only a few restaurants in town but the two we tried (Kašča and pr'Pepet) had excellent food. We went back to each a second time because they were so good! Igor is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond. He gives recommendations on places to see and he is very friendly. He basically runs the whole hotel with just himself and his wife. Igor will tell you interesting stories if you want to listen. I believe he said the cellar was hundreds of years old (500?) and his great grandfather opened up a restaurant in the building in 1909. The room is very comfortable. We slept great on the beds. Room 1 is a family room The breakfast exceeded expectations. There are cheeses, cold meats, breads, granola, yogurt, fresh fruits, boiled eggs, etc. So there is plenty to fill up on. Every morning Igor was there preparing breakfast and he would serve at the table a special pastry (different each day) from a local baker. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Slovenia.
No problems. There is no mini fridge in the room but you can use the communal mini fridge in the lobby if you need to

Verified reviewOur favorite stay in all of Slovenia, the property has so much charm to it and a lot of history associated with it. The owner is the kindest man we have met that took the time to talk to us about it and give us great advice on what to see and tips on how to go about it. This is a true hidden gem and you should book it if it’s available.

Verified reviewIgor is a fantastic host! Very attentive, kind, helpful and he has got a sense of humor. Every morning served some special local food for breakfast, as well, which were very delicious. He told us the short history of Skofja Loka and gave us a local map, and show the sights as well. The rooms were very comfortable. The hotel is a perfect part of the town. I only searched an accomodation near Ljubljana and I didn' t read about Skofja Loka. So it was a very pleasant surprise that this small town how beautiful and old. We were very sorry that we could only spend 2 days. We want to come back again!

Verified reviewlocation was great, in a historical building
Pictures of my passport was taken, breakfast could have more options and better presentation. Tourist tax needed to be paid in cash. Pricey for the offering. The village has potential.

Verified reviewIgor is a wonderful host, taking care about the details. He knows the area and happy to suggest interesting points to travel to. Breakfast is basic and nice, however Igor was surprising the guests every morning with a local, home made cake, it was really nice. Room was clean and we have had the luck to have 2 big windows looking on the river from our room. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thank you for having us, Igor!

Verified reviewThe view of the river and quaint old neighborhood out of our window was like a storybook scene from days gone by. Our room was a comfortable and clean place to stay after exploring the beautiful mountain roads, the amazing beauty of the Socca River, and one beautiful mountain village after another with rolling green hills and fresh beautiful streams. Igor was a highlight during our stay with his kindness and obvious love of his country and his hotel. He made us feel so welcome and shared fun and historical stories about the area. He also gave us great suggestions about sightseeing and restaurants. His breakfast each morning was lovely, and we looked forward to our morning chats with Igor. We would highly recommend a few days in this lovely city and hotel.

Verified reviewHotel Garni Paleta was a great place to stay for 2 nights while visiting the lovely town of Skofja Loka.. Igor was very friendly and helpful, providing lots of local information and recommendations, as well as a delicious welcome drink on arrival. My attic room was very comfortable and had wonderful views across the river to the Old Town and up to the Castle. Excellent location - only 2 mins walk from the bus station and a short walk over the river to the Old Town and up to the Castle. The breakfast also had a good selection. I would definitely stay here again if ever I am back in Skofja Loka.
Nothing.

Verified reviewA great historical renovated home. Views of the river and Historical Loka. Very clean. Parking just a block away. The dining room was over 700 years old. Great history provided by our hosts. Great location close to Castle, shops, and bus stop. Host was exceptional. Breakfast was great and added touch of local dish..example potica and strudel. Would strongly recommend.
Everything was excellent. Only warning ...Building was well renovated noted that if you are very tall you need to ensure you watch your head. Typical of properties of this time. Owners have done there best to support the taller individual.

Verified reviewOne of the best locations in Skofja Loka. Near the old city (the complex was a toll tower in the olden days), with stress-free private parking. The owner was very open and helpful, and a good source of local info and customs. The room was just like in the pictures, and it was cleaned almost every day. Although the room was a loft, it was quite cool (stayed in August) and we didn't need AC (it is equipped with one). Every morning we received different handmade local pastry specialties as dessert, some of which were really good (the tarhon cheese roll comes to mind). Also, the town of Skofja Loka is charming and relaxingly quiet. Glad we decided to stay here instead of Ljubljana (very crowded during the summer). Surely coming again!
It is an old building so the access on the stairs to the loft is a little bit narrow and cumbersome, but we had no problem though. This is not a negative per se, just take into account if you have some physical disability.

Verified reviewThe host Igor was very kind and offered great hospitality. The location is perfect in the center of Skofja Loka and breakfast was basic but perfect for us. The (local) cakes Igor offered were very nice. He room was cool enough despite warm weather
Maybe a watercooker and some tea in the room would be nice
