Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was so cold during the night as the AC is on full blast all the time and my throat became quite dry. There are no windows in the room and there are a lot of beds in quite a small space. After meeting others I do think it was a bit more expensive than other hostels as there wasn’t any events or chances to socialise with people or recommendations for things to do in the city. There are only 2 showers and 2 toilets then a joint shower and toilet which I thought was quite low for the amount of people in the hostel.
Location was okay - to get to the main attractions you need to walk 45 mins or get a bus. They had free breakfast which consisted of toast, which was good to fill a small hole. I will take free food any time especially with the costs in Singapore! The staff were welcoming on arrival.

GermanyThe dorms are comfortable and are an efficient use of space. it would be useful to have a shelf beneath the power points and also in the showers.
Excellent location close to public transport, important historical and tourist sites, and very good food options. CODE is affordable, very clean and relaxed. Dorm beds are a good size, with power points and have private curtains. Wifi is reliable and tea and coffee is a welcome bonus. The staff are also very helpful and cheerful.

Czech RepublicShelves or hooks would have been appreciated. In the family room, there was a big Exit light above the door which cannot be turned off. There was no hot water in the shower.
Location. The hostel was clean. Bunk beds in the family room had curtains. It was possible to refill bottles with drinking water.

AustraliaI stayed in the 12 bed mixed dorm and the storage was not ideal, the lockers were tiny, only big enough for valuables. There is nowhere to put your bags, the shelf that is designated for them does not have enough space for all 12 people. There is nowhere to hang your towel after you’ve used it. The 3 story bunks are also a pain to get up and down.
Location was perfect, bus stop right out the front which will take you directly into the heart of the city, the metro station was a short 10 minute walk away which was also very practical! 7/11 is right next door, money exchange down the road and lots of restraints around. The staff were so friendly and helpful, I asked for my sheets to be changed after I arrived and they were stained they did them instantly, I stayed a week so also asked for a change of towel and they got me one straight away! The hostel provides cold and hot water, toast for breakfast and has a hairdryer in the bathroom! I really liked the pod style bed, it was comfortable and spacious.

GermanyThey have a camera IN the dorm room! And what's more, there's also one in the bathroom itself. Unbelievable. Also bear in mind that you have to bring toilet paper from the bathroom into the toilet boxes, since there's no container there..
The hostel itself is okay, clean and in a good location. The 3 storey dorm beds may be awkward, but I slept well there, but...

IndonesiaHowever, I was unaware that we needed to provide our amenities. I bought liquid soap, and after 3 nights, I lost it. But that's fine because that happened on the last day.
The location is excellent; you just need to take a few steps to reach the bus stop and a few more steps to reach the nearest 7-Eleven. They also provide us with free-flowing water, tea, and coffee. The breakfast is simple but quite fulfilling. The bathrooms, which are mixed-gender, are always clean and available for use whenever you need them.

MalaysiaThere’s no toilet roll provided in the toilets. I’m unsure if this was how hostels operates here in Sg in general? However, what you can do is go to the high end mall and enjoy their premium toilet experience.
I had a pleasant stay here at Code. Very friendly staffs. There’s a bus stop a few footsteps away which was very convenient.

United KingdomSome of the top bunks have shared ladders so meant when I climbed down I banged my head quite hard (the staff was lovely and helped me). There was an issue with some of the bag storage lockers, but this was resolved.
The staff were helpful but not too over bearing. The location is great and it’s not too busy. The rooms are good size. The ac is good.
