How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Lovely and friendly staff/ good amenities and the location was very good close to Marine Parade and many good eateries/ the peranakan museum /good priced eateries and hawker centers.

Beds were very hard. Shower took up entire bathroom. Very small rooms. Not enough room to open two suitcases on the floor. Thin walls and doors. Lobby traffic and neighbor TV kept us awake.

There is no shower curtain in the bathroom and it gets wet everywhere. the only chair was so low that it was very uncomfortable to work on my computer.
The location is great with many restaurants, however there are cigarette butts on the streets and very dirty. I was very surprised at how neglected Singapore is. furthermore, the locals are showing bad manners by crossing the streets without the corresponding light.

I generally like the Joo Chiat location but this hotel is a little too far from good cafes and eateries
I have stayed at this hotels many times and it’s a good overnighter, not too far from the airport

Staff entered during the day while I was out (I would appreciate being asked if I want/need that service or not).

Claustrophobic - small room with tiny, high window with no view other than roof tiles and sky (while looking up - window ledge was above my line of vision). Hard to believe this was a 'superior' room. No bedside table on one side. Mattress rather too firm.
Good location close to bus route to the city centre (service 33). Clean linen and towels. Good water pressure.

Toothbrushes provided are not in good quality. Appreciate if they provide water bottles more. We don't like to refill water from the bathroom area. Or they could have water purifier at hotel to refill the bottles. Prefer if they have washroom facilities in the lobby area.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel 81 Sakura during our visit to Singapore in December. The room is quite compact. Our room could do with a little bit of TLC.

The service of the staff was fantastic! Very helpful with anything we need. Location was great, plenty of great food around and good transport. Room was neat and tidy, always stocked up on water and toiletries. Very affordable, especially for Singapore

There is need to continuously improve on the outlook of the Hotel. The hotel does not look attractive from the outside.
The location is good since it is convenient and close to Fair Price Mall. Also it is a walking distance to Paya Leba Mall which has most of the goods that may be needed by visitors. l liked the that the hotel is nearer to beaure de-change and food courts making it easy to access money and meals.
