How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful and full of character. Friendly and helpful receptionist.
Unavailability of tea and coffee in the rooms. There was an area to help yourself, but nothing was there until 8.00 when breakfast was available anyway. We arrived on Sunday and it was as if the place shut down until 8 on Monday morning. Very dark breakfast room lit by candlelight only. Unfriendly breakfast staff.

Verified reviewBeautiful place in beautiful location. Beautiful room with working air conditioning.
Level of service varying from good to bad. Hotel had a lot of young trainees which were not properly orientated to their jobs. Food at the restaurant was expensive and the quality of it at best only ordinary. The Classic Hamburger was a big disappointment and not even close worth the cost of 27,- euros. Deep cleaning of the nice bathroom could be a good iedea. This is nice but rather expensive place. You should get better with that money.

Verified reviewGreat bed and breakfast
We were genuinely disappointed with several aspects of our stay. For dinner, we were unexpectedly seated in the pub/bar area instead of the main dining room, even though there was still plenty of space available there. It felt like the staff simply didn’t want to bother with setting or cleaning the dining room anymore. We were told the kitchen closes at 8 PM, which seemed unusually early and gave the impression they were eager to wrap up for the night. As a result, we couldn’t even order dessert — something we’ve never experienced at a hotel before. The sauna, which was advertised as a feature, had to be specially activated, and unfortunately, this wasn’t made clear beforehand. This inconvenience meant we couldn’t enjoy it as expected. Additionally, the service was disappointing. The staff at check-in and in the restaurant came across as cold and unwelcoming, which affected the overall atmosphere. The only exception was the lady at check-out, who showed more warmth and empathy than the rest of the team combined. Unfortunately, the lack of hospitality and poor service overshadowed what could have been a much more pleasant stay.

Verified reviewThe location is great. A few minutes walk from the restaurants and the waterside. They have their own restaurant and they accommodated the little one's needs. Lovely and clean hotel. Spacious bathroom, good size bedroom with lots of storage space. Breakfast full of variety and fresh food. Friendly reception. Loved our stay. Thank you for your kindness.
Nothing.

Verified reviewWe loved our stay at the Gripsholms Värdshus. It is a charming collection of old buildings (almost like a tiny village) with a really lovely feel and atmosphere. We had a lake view room, though the trees were quite large and not much of a view - but that did not matter as we were keen to explore the charming village of Mariefred. The hotel has a huge outdoor garden and we were able to enjoy the multiple areas of the outdoor lounge and bar. The position of the hotel could not be better - right in the heart of Mariefred, on the edge of a fjord and overlooking the amazing castle (definitely worth a visit). Overall, a lovely stay and would recommend it.
A few issues: - the rooms were renovated a long time ago so the bathrooms are tired and the grout on the floor and wall are mouldy. Could do with a deep clean. The shower curtains should be replaced more often. - the breakfast buffet was OK but not as good as other hotels we had stayed in during our trip. Of particular annoyance was the fact that they do not offer normal milk - only soy, oat and lactose free. Even other Swedish guests were surprised! - for the price and size of the room, we were surprised that there was no bar fridge or tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

Verified reviewThe location, the rooms, the breakfast and it was very pretty interior.
In my room the tap/faucet in the bath was next to impossible to turn. It was very hot and I couldn't fix it. Nor could anyone in my family. We had to take cold tap water in a cup and pour severe times to regulate the temperature. The reception was closed so I formed them of this inconvenience in the morning.

Verified reviewThe location is great, right on the board walk. The service is excellent and so is the restaurant. The public areas of the hotel are very nice.
The room is very "simple" but we knew from the photos. The bath was a bit old.

Verified reviewThe location overlooking the water at the castle was wonderful. The room was comfortable and bathroom and shower were very modern. Restaurant is very nice but pricey (most likely because of location). Breakfast was good.
Parking in the area is very challenging. Front desk was closed from about 9 pm to 8 am. No access at all to anyone from hotel. We had to store some medicine in a refrigerator and desk staff said no problem and put it in a refrigerator in kitchen or area behind reception. Unfortunately we could not get timely access to it and had to wait until 8 am. That did not work well for us. If we had just had a heads up about the closure when they took the medication from us it would have helped immensely.
