How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHerbert is a wonderful host, he made our stay very comfortable. Breakfast was good, fruit selection was fresh and nice every morning. Location, location, location: Right on the beach with direct access, sun beds, shower for when you get back from the beach, lots of great takeaways nearby: Le Mer Pizza / Leo Takeaway. Great fancy restaurants: Les Lauriers and Cafe de Arts. More posh beach bar at Cafe de Arts, reachable by beach or by street. Herbert’s brother can organize boat trips for half a day - highly recommend it. I fully endorse anyone who wants to stay here to give it a try. Great place for 5 nights in Praslin for us.
This is more of a personal preference rather than something I didn’t like: - the bed is not that large - you just get one pillow - the mattress is quite stiff But nonetheless we have rested and everything was comfortable.

Verified reviewThe apartment has direct access to Cote D'or Beach which is very convenient if you don't want to drive to another one. The rooms are modest and the breakfast is simple: omlette, fruits, instant coffee and gem. Staff if very welcoming and they lend us beach towels and socket adaptor.
The mattress of the bed was very hard and the lighting in the room/bathroom is poor. The AC was facing the bed, therefore we could not leave it on during the night.

Verified reviewThe location is wonderful. Yes, it is right on the beach. You just walk out of the garden and you are at one of the best beach in Praslin. The view from the apartment -especially on the 1st floor - is breathtaking. Herbert is indeed helpful if you have any request. The staff is cleaning the apartment daily, so the rooms are clean. But that is about it for the pros.
The apartment is not only very simple, but also in bad condition. We do not have a need for luxury - obviously as we would definitely not have booked this place - but when you are staying somewhere you do expect the absolute bare minimum, such as a comfortable, steady bed. I can tell you, this was not it. That matrass was probably not changed for over a decade or so. You can simply roll off to the side. The air condition is not working properly - most likely it was also never cleaned. We had the airco on all day long with setting of 16 degrees, but the room temperature never went below 29/30 Celsius. The windows also did not close properly - I do not think this would be a high effort to fix, it seems that there is no will to do so. The bathroom was indeed simple, but to be honest we had absolutely no problem with that. In the common area also only half of the lamp was working, which was never fixed during our stay. In my opinion the maintenance of this place is simply missing. Then, breakfast: it has no variety at all, no cheese, no veggies, no ham or any meat products. All you can get is a juice, a platter with 4 slices of fruits, then 2 slices of toast each and a choice of eggs (scrammbled eggs had nothing in it - no onion, no nothing, very plain). You can get an instant coffee if you like. And that is it every single day.

Verified reviewIt's located on the longest beach in the island. On one side is the beach, with direct access through the back garden. On the front side, the road has many restaurants and grocery shops. Access to the island bus is also close by.
Nothing at all.

Verified reviewWe were extremely happy with our stay at Rosemary’s Guesthouse. Upon arrival, we were given the choice between an upstairs or downstairs apartment and ended up with the most beautiful sea view. Herbert kindly helped us with our luggage and remained incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The location was excellent — right on the beach and next to a very good supermarket. The garden also had a convenient outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach. Breakfast was absolutely amazing: every morning we enjoyed a fresh fruit smoothie, coffee (although it was instant) or tea, and eggs cooked to order. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we would be very happy to return!
The only downsides were that the air conditioning was quite slow and struggled to cool the entire apartment, especially on the first very hot day. The mattress was also a bit old and not very comfortable, and each person was provided with only one pillow, which was quite soft. However, Herbert was always very kind and attentive, doing his best to improve anything he could.

Verified reviewThe stay at this hotel was absolutely exceptional! From the very first moment we felt welcome. The room was spacious and clean, but the biggest impression on us was the view from the window - directly on the blue ocean and palm trees swaying in the sun in the garden. Pure magic! Breakfasts were delicious, fresh exotic fruits, sun loungers available, the facility well-kept. A huge thank you goes to the host - Herbert was extremely helpful, polite and always ready to support. Thanks to his hospitality we felt really special. We wholeheartedly recommend this place - it's the perfect choice for a relaxing, unforgettable stay!

Verified reviewThe guesthouse was very nice. The rooms have a perfect view over the ocean. All clean. Breakfast was good.
It’s not about the property but was important for me: there are tons of sand flies on the beach. Days later i still have itchy bites all over me.

Verified reviewThe guest house is located in a very good location, right on the seashore. the owner of the house is nice and responsive. A good breakfast was served. If you have a car, there is a hotel almost next door with a large parking lot where you can safely leave your car. There are also some good restaurants and a shop very close.
The bathroom needs a little renovation.

Verified reviewThe view from the balcony was really nice and the breakfast with seasonal fruits, juice and eggs really good too. The staff was friendly as well.
The bed was a bit jumpy - if one person moves, the whole mattress moves.
