How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAmazing place. The views from the balcony were incredible. Had everything we needed. They even organised bikes for us to hire that were waiting for us when we checked in.
Nothing - but there was a short steep hill to get to the property but that's why the views were so good!

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our week at Fred’s property. It’s close to the centre, offers wonderful view on the island & is just chilled and relaxing. The pool is a highlight after a hot day out! And the boat trip with Fred was absolutely amazing! We got to see fish, coral, even a shark!! (And turtles)! last but not least - Doreen’s cuisine was tasty and local - thank you! Very grateful to have experienced La Digue at the Kaz Douceur!

Verified reviewGreat view, lots of greenery around the house. The place definitely has potential.б
We arrived earlier than check-in time and the hosts agreed to accommodate us, but it wasn't cleaned well enough. The furniture and equipment in the kitchen were old and in need of replacement. Most of the lights in the house did not work. Also had a problem with a couple of the water taps in the bathroom. The landlords live in a nearby building and we frequently ran into each other. There is a small pool in front of the house that we thought was attached to the main house, but it was often used by the hosts' children. Our expectation was to be more private . I am not very demanding but for the price I expected more.

Verified reviewEasy check in, near the jetty.
There were a number of aspects of the bungalow that would benefit from renovation, eg. the bathroom door, the sink in the main room, mosquito nets would be a great addition too.

Verified reviewThe selling point for this lovely self catering accommodation is definitely the view and the upside down layout. The dining/kitchen area has incredible views over Praslin. Sun rise and sun set create a beautiful backdrop. The kitchen is well equipped. Washing machine is a huge bonus. The large bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage. A shop with all basics is located nearby. Fredo the owner and all other staff were very friendly and helpful. They kindly arranged bicycles for us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Electrics need to be improved. Socket next to the bed- bedside table lamp only worked when plug pushed half way in.

Verified review+ The beautiful and cool design of the chalet (maisonette style, open concept etc.) + Practical curtains to block the sun out of the sitting area if needed + Huge bed + So much space in general (for hanging clothes, to sit and chill, to cook....) + Amazing view, especially to watch bats and sunsets + No need to carry drinking water up the hill - it was provided by the host (12 litre containers) + The hill wasn't as bad/steep as some of the reviews say - if you are average fit, you can walk up without any problems + Kitchen equipment was very easy to clean (intact teflon frying pans etc.) and nothing was missing, you also have everything you need to wash the dishes + Having our own washing machine saved our trip :-) + Shuttle service from the ferry (small charge) + Friendly and helpful staff + You are not disturbed by anyone else, very secluded spot + Small swimming pool + Payment by credit card is possible, only extras like tourism tax and water need to be paid cash THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Property is not for people who expect very comfortable conditions. However, we were happy with the experience.

The room upstairs could have been better. Very basic. The pool was limited to the main house unless the main house was unoccupied.

Verified reviewCozy place, boho style, very beautiful view of the Oceani. I loved the design, wood everywhere. Walking distance to the jetty.just be fit. the last part of the walk is uphill. If you're carriyng big bags you should request a transfer. Mr Fred, the owner, was really nice and outgoing, making sure everything is fine. The terrace was awsome, at dawn and sunteți too.

Verified reviewThe host was the nicest person. He gave us information and helped with bikes and boat trips. The location is also 15min from the marina, which helps arriving and leaving. In addition, the host has a transfer service that helped a lot to bring our luggage all the way up to the bungalow (it is in a steep hill).
The bungalow is the more authentic local experience you can have in the island. If you are looking for a place in the jungle in the hill, that is your place. However, the fact that theres no door between the room, which is in downstairs, and the upper living room kitchen is uncomfortable for some reasons: 1/ The AC filter was not clean (i couldn't sleep with AC on since I'm a bit allergic), 2/ bugs keep on coming in since doors and windows are not completely sure to block them (it is a real wood made bungalow) and the stairs are open. 3/ With only a fan to cool off, it was hard to survive to the island heat. That been said, those who seek a raw experience, it is a great place. For me, it was hard to sleep at night.

Verified reviewIt was lovely! The view over to Praslin is truly spectacular and we loved our mornings there. We had a massive bottle of water which made it even more pleasant considering you always have to pay for water in other properties. We knew it would be jungle-like, therefore were prepared for bugs, geckos, birds, chickens and cows. It really is what makes the experience so wholesomely magical. We even washed our clothes as we had a washing machine which made our lives easier after our 2yo had puked all over me on the way from Mahe to La Digue. We loved it! P.S and the hike to it is not bad at all. It is literally a couple of curves up hill ;)
Breakfast would’ve been nice but it’s a self-catered property. :)
