How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewMy son just stepped through the main door and said: "Wow, if this is not a 10 (on Booking), I don't know what a 10 is." The appartment is even nicer than on photos, spacious, stylish, spotlesly clean, with two big bathrooms, hot water always available. The essentials were provided when we arrived (salt, sugar, vinegar, coffee, washing liquid) and Magdalena, the owner, gave us so many good advice. The position of the appartment is perfect, as all the places on Mahé are easily accessible from there. The location is quiet and the outdoor sitting area has a direct view of the ocean. And finally, we absolutely fell in love with a quiet, small beach just a 100 meters from the appartment, just a few steps right to the place where the road to the appartment joins the main road. Perfection!

The hill from the main rd but we soon got use to it. 😀

Verified reviewWe spent three days as a family in May. The accommodation was very clean and spacious with a fully equipped kitchen. The location is good for exploring the south of Mahe. Magdalena as the owner was so kind and friendly with very reasonable rules regarding the apartment. She was in contact all the time, helping her guests on request. To sum up, we recommend this accommodation.

No AC in the dining room and kitchen. It became very hot and really bad. Also the pots for the kitchen were really old and not good.

Verified reviewThe property is located up a steep hill so it's not something you want to go up and down more than once a day. The rooms are very large. I booked the entire condo but the host had locked the second room. It sat further away from the street, so I should have had my choice of rooms. The AC is only in the bedroom and is old. The blades point towards the wardrobe closet, so not very effective at all The ceiling fans in the living room and kitchen do not provide enough cooling for the extreme heat and humidity. The bathroom decor is lovely, but the only light switches are behind the bedroom door, so not at all convenient. The lighting in the bathroom is not very bright. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a washing machine. The host is lovely and brought me fresh bananas from their garden. The unit is very close to the street so there is some traffic noise; mainly as vehicles are making their way up that hill. Bus stops aren't too far, but sidewalks are limited and traffic is fast moving.

On the other hand with regard to the following: 1. The apartment is less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, and the walk up the about 20° slope would be for about 3 minutes only. You told me you enjoyed the walk. 2. For the air-conditioning, the apartment is only 2 years old and was fitted with new air-conditioning units. The reason why the blades face the wardrobe is because most people do not necessarily like to have the air-conditioning blowing in their face. Most accommodation s install theirs in that position. 3. Between the open space living room and kitchen, there are 3 high speed ceiling fans. 4. To note that our apartment is not on the main street and the sound of the few "heavy" vehicles going uphill on the nearby road is up till afternoon. The evening is calm and peaceful. We hope to see you back in the near future.

Verified reviewThe house is located in a very good position, close to the airport and to all the beaches of the south. There is also a very nice beach reachable on foot. The house is very confortable, clean and big, with two bathrooms, washing machine and all the facilities you may need. It has a wonderful view on the surrounded forest. The owner is very helpful providing tips and advices on how to spend perfect holidays.

Perfectly clean, spacious, has everything you need in the kitchen for cooking, comfortable beds, a terrace with a beautiful view of the mountains. The location is convenient, within walking distance of the beach, a small supermarket, take away, restaurant, Takamaka factory, craft village, mountain trail for hiking. The hostess is very hospitable and kind, attentive and sensitive to guests, knows what good service is. She gave us recommendations for places to visit, additionally provides a car for rent and can meet you from the airport.
