How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe had the 2 bedroom apartment which was lovely, big and equipped with everything we needed but the beds were not comfortable and the wi-fi was barely working.
Thank you for the review. On two occasions I asked the guests if everything was okay and they said yes. If they had told me about the problem with the internet I would have checked with the provider as each apartment is supposed to get 5 GB on a daily basis. As for beds, we can’t satisfy everyone as some prefer soft mattresses and others the harder ones However the vast majority find the mattresses comfortable

Verified reviewThe view was breathtaking. The space was equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
Maintenance issues with our ensuite toilet, a plumber came to check it when we arrived. It still didn't work. The TV didn't have channels working but that was OK.
Brigitte and family were checking in on the same day as some other guests were checking out. The housekeeper while cleaning the apartment found there was a leak to the water supply in one of the toilets. In spite of the short notice I managed to get a plumber to come and check. He did some work but the leak still persisted. We advised the guests to close the valve to the water supply if this were to happen .As they were staying for only four days we decided that as the problem was rather complex it would be wiser to fix it when they leave not to cause them undue inconvenience. There was another toilet in the second bathroom As for the tv I had not renewed the contract as many guests say they do not watch it. However Brigitte’s husband told me to top it up for the children.This I did and told him to advise me if it was working well. I did not hear from him so presumed everything was fine

Verified reviewGreat apartments, spacious, clean, amazing view from the balcony. Communicated with the hosts via whatsapp. Allowed to leave late at night. Everything was great, nothing was missing. air conditioners in both bedrooms, only a fan in the salon, but it wasn't hot with everything turned on. We even took the fan out to the balcony. I recommend it.

Verified reviewLarge two bedroom apartment with amazing views to the Anse Royale Bay. Confortable beds, A/C in both bedrooms, two bathrooms with large walk in showers, toiletries and kitchen supplies to get us started. Access to the house is via two very steep roads, but we had no problem getting there with our rental car - going by foot could be tricky. Grocery shops and take away 3min by car. Friendly and helpful hosts, just a WhatsApp message away. They were able to accomodate both early checkin and late checkout for us free of charge. Thank you, Catherine and Ted for a lovely stay!

Verified reviewWe stayed in the three-bedroom apartment. everything is superlative, from the location to the communication via whatsapp with the hosts. the apartment is clean, spacious, kitchen equipped with everything you need, balcony with a superb view of Anse Royale golf, private parking, quiet area. We recommend renting a car, as the villa is on a hill, but the view and tranquility worth it. Anse Royale beach is special, both for snorkeling on the left side and for swimming. We strongly recommend this accommodation unit.

Verified reviewSpacious 2 bedroom apartment with a large balcony. The balcony looks out to the sea and lots of green surrounding the property. The other apartments in the building were vacant at the time of our stay which allowed us to enjoy more privacy. Dedicated parking with restaurants and shops a short drive away (5 mins). The apartment was clean and the host was super helpful and friendly, greeting us at check in and also assisting with the car rental prior to our arrival. As the property is located up a steep hill, it can be a challenge without a car. We cooked everyday during our stay, kitchen is stocked well with cooking dishes, cutlery and crockery. The closest beach is not ideal for swimming however it was perfect for our 2 year old, the beach also has ample parking available.
Finding the place initially was a challenge since the pin on google maps is incorrect however the hosts were really helpful and we managed to locate the property soon enough.

Verified reviewThe accommodation is exactly as in the description and in the pictures, everything is wonderful. The view is amazing, the kitchen is super equipped with everything you need. The housekeeper comes every 2 days and cleans, changes the towels and bedding. Just 5 minutes by car is Anse Royale beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on Mahe. There is also a supermarket, pharmacy, banks there. The owners, Catherine and Ted, are very nice, kind and gladly answer any question and help you. They offered us, without us asking, to leave part of our luggage at the accommodation for 5 days (the period when we were going to the island of Praslin - we stayed 7 nights at Anse Royale Bay View Apartments, then 5 nights in Praslin and then we came back again 3 nights at Ande Royale Bay) because they had no guests until we returned to the accommodation. Also, on the last day, we had a flight at 23:00 and they allowed us to check-out at 20:00. Many thanks for everything and we will definitely come back, with the greatest love!

We stayed here in early September and were blown away by the balcony views, and the kitchen and living areas were all super clean, modern and well-fitted with appliances. Bedrooms very comfortable and air conditioning worked well. The fridge was also stocked with some basics like milk which was helpfu. The host Catherine was very kind and let us stay till evening on our check out date as our flight was very late, which made our last day so much nicer being able to keep our bags there - thank you again! There is a bit of a steep road towards the accommodation so just make sure you hire a car that will cope well with this, otherwise perfect. Would 100% recommend and would love to stay again.
