Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe loved everything!
Monica and Norbert are the perfect hosts. I can’t emphasise enough how much you need to book this place! Monica took care of so many arrangements for us, from twin lakes hiking (highly recommend), to golden monkey transport. But best of all are the meals around the table with the family, having conversations and sharing culture. Their daughters, Nica and Kara are so beautiful, you will fall in love with this whole family!

United KingdomI loved staying with Monica and her family. Everyone was very welcoming and it was a very easy and caring stay from start to finish. The house was incredibly clean and the bed was so comfortable. Each meal I ate was delicious, especially breakfast which was abundant with fresh fruits. Monica and Norbert organised a great hiking experience to the Twin Lakes and Monica made sure I got to my bus ok which made my onward journey seamless.

IrelandStaying at Monica and Norbert's home was a true Rwandan homestay experience. We were welcomed warmly into the home and invited to lunch with their friends when we arrived much earlier than expected. The rooms and bathroom were clean. Note - cold shower only but Monica will kindly heat up water for you to have a hot shower using a bucket which was fine for us They also offer home cooked dinners which was lovely. Norbert also gave us lots of tips about travelling in Rwanda.

FranceMonique & Norbert are the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and their 2 daughters Nikka and Kara are just the cutest. I spent 3 nights at their house and it felt like being at home. Monique’s homemade food is delicious and having dinners with the family in the evenings was a highlight. I was so sad to leave and wish I could have stayed longer. I also recommend doing their twin lakes tour, it was one of the best parts of my trip! Thanks so much Monique & Norbert, I hope we can meet again one day.

Czech RepublicI have been to Rwanda twice and visited 10+ hotels. This was the best one. You stay in a house with a Rwandan family of 4. Both Norbert and Monica speak great english, are very nice and always ready to help or advise. The kids are well behaved and very friendly. From the moment of arrival we have felt more like visiting distant family. They will gladly help you plan your trips, even take you for a Twin Lakes hike which I highly recommend. They offer homemade dinners and breakfasts. Room is small and humble, but well kept and clean. Bathroom was cleaned regularily. There are water outages, but there is always some water to wash and flush with.

IndiaWonderful place to stay at! Monique and Norbert go out of their way to make you feel at home. Clean and neat room and bathroom and Monique and Norbert are always around to help you plan your trip. Norbert is also an excellent guide and the walk we did with him to the twin lakes was really great! If you want to see Rwanda with a local and really get a glimpse into the life of a Rwandan family, do not hesitate to book this place.

United KingdomThe bucket shower was a little challenging after a particularly muddy hike, but I think that in dry season this would not have been an issue. The family was also very kind and supportive as we returned tired and covered in dirt and provided laundry services too, so overall it worked out ok :)
Monica and Norbert were amazing hosts, meeting us at the bus station, cooking excellent breakfasts and dinners and creating a friendly and welcoming environment! They also helped to advised and arrange activities and - as Norbert is a guide - we also went with him to hike around the twin lakes, which I highly recommend!

Monica, Norbert and the kids make you immediately feel home and part of the family. The accommodation is relatively basic but it is the warmth of the family, sharing meals and stories together that makes this homestay a very special place. Fully recommend staying here, and also talking to Norbert about the twin lakes hike he can guide you on, a great more laid back hike to cool down from the volcanoes :)

I loved the place. Monica and her husband norbet was so wonderful, kind and helpful throughout my stay at the guesthouse. She prepared vegetarian meal upon my request and her food was so homey and delicious especially her peanut sauce and pumkin soup and not forgeting her pancake. She always served tea/coffee and fruits. I was never hungry. Not only that, she ensured my hiking trip went well, help to arrange my transportation and ensure all my laundry is done. I stayed for 5 days and they took care of me as family. Above all, her kids Kara and Nikka was so charming and made my stay delightful and entertaining. I will highly recommend this place and will come back to visit them as my friend.

CanadaExcellent accommodation that deserves far more visitors. One of my favourite places I've ever stayed at. Very welcoming hosts, clean and comfortable room, great freshly cooked breakfast and dinner both included. Very suitable for visiting Volcanoes National Park, you can have breakfast at 6 am and easily get to the park headquarters. Will definitely return if I'm in Musanze again and recommend it to my friends.

PolandIf you are looking for an authentic Rwandan experience and seeing the local life from inside - this place is for you! I had an amazing stay with Monique, Norbert and their two lovely daughters. They all made sure that I had a very special time here. The house is beautiful and the room is very clean. The food was delicious. Monique and Norb also helped me to organize a treck to see the Twin Lakes and Golden monkeys treck in the Volcanoes national park. Monique also offered to have a city tour with me, seeing the local markets (we did it by boda boda which was an experience in itself :) The family explained to me a lot about Rwandan culture and nature. This was truly one of the best travelling experiences I have ever had. My home away from home! And it was very difficult to say goodbye at the end of this lovely journey together. I really do hope we will meet again and I'm sure our connection will last. Once again, thank you all for making it so special for me!
