How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I stayed here for three nights and loved it. A cozy place with a beautiful garden full of birds and the 2 dogs. Special thanks to Chance, the house lady, she’s incredibly kind and made my stay perfect, even arranging a private taxi to and from Rubavu. Highly recommended! Greets, Niels

Chance is an amasing host! She is taking care of her clients, she is a marvellous cook and always happy. She is passionate and you can feel it! The hotel is also well located to go to the gorilla center :)

The host was very friendly, inviting and helpful. She arranged a driver and recommended nice activities. She even made lunch packages for us! The stay was beautiful and had many birds. We really recommend this place!

Amazing cosy place, a heaven surrounded by beautiful birds and green. amazing staff, a heartful welcome and such a quiet and relaxing place! Feeling like being part of the family! A few miles away from the Virunga national park and its many wonders. The staff will do its utmost to make you feel comfortable and find the best tour for you. The house keeper Chance is such a gem, she is so caring and kind, cannot thank her enough for the great care and arrangements she made for my visits. No need to go to these expensive lodges around, this is the place!

The road to reach the place is a bit hidden.
As the name says, a little peaceful paradise inside the village, with birds chirping in the morning. All the staff is super kind and welcoming and especially Noella, who is an amazing chef! We enjoy very much our stay

A littke bit far from centre if you need/want to be there often, but a nice walk or you can take taxi or motorbike at a very reasonable price. Chance is there to help you out anyway!
Quiet, small b&b (only 4 rooms) with an exceptional service from the booking till departure. A very special thanks to Chance, who has been the most wonderful host helping me out with several things! Great breakfast as well! Did not have the chance to order lunch or dinner.

A bit rough road to the place but not long and compensated by quiet location
Excellent service ,food, room. I forgot water and snack for the track - the owner went to get it to me 10km to NP HQ ( without my request! ). Lovely people

I had an incredible stay at Little Birds Paradise, absolutely would recomend it. The hotel is even more beautiful than in the pictures and it is the perfect place to relax after the activities at Volcanoes National Park, since they also provide dinner. Bernice and her team are very kind and friendly, they truly make you feel at home and they help you with organizing your trip. I traveled by myself and I felt so comfortable at the hotel. I hope I will be back soon !

This was such a peaceful spot to stay. The gardens are beautiful and my family had fun watching the birds. The property is off the main roads making it quite peaceful. Beatrice and Chance helped us organize a golden monkey tour. They helped us figure out a lot of logistics. We can’t wait to come back when we have more time to spend here.

There needs to be a sign post for easy direction … even with Google maps it’s not easy to locate the place .

The place is quite hard to find, but the staff was making sure that I was always reached safely to the accommodation.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast was delicious and was even prepared at 5:30 AM before going to do the hikes in Volcanoes National Park. Garden is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing afternoon reading. The staff was very caring and helpful.

Cozy place in a peaceful setting with birds chirping and plenty of flowers & trees around to relax after a day hiking in the Volcanoes national park. There are also 3 super friendly dogs looking for a nice scratch. Amazing host and delicious breakfast every morning.

The room is tiny, the curtains are small and don't cover the windows. I found the price too high for the room.
The place is cute, the garden is beautiful, breakfast is basic and the lady is kind.
