“This was once a 5 star Sofitel hotel – but WOW – how things have changed! You can still see the bones of what must once have been a grand place, but the current management has let things slide disastrously. No airon in any public spaces (including reception) which themselves look tired and underkept, waterfalls sitting empty and sad, no wifi in rooms, a pretty ordinary buffet dinner and, overall, a total lack of commitment from staff and on service. OK, so it’s not particularly expensive. But I’d rather pay and get a memorable experience. It must rate at most as a 3 star. I’d say stay elsewhere, but the rash of abandoned closed hotels in the Touristique strip suggest things are not going well for Tozeur.”
