    “Lovely host and beautiful river”

  • Okunikko Guesthouse JUN Review score: 10

“Comfortable place, you can use the kitchen stove for cooking and storing stuff in the fridge which is awesome. Good view of the lake too from the mix dorm room. Hostel keeper was super friendly and knows how to play the traditional Japanese guitar instrument.”

  • Annex Turtle Hotori-An Review score: 9

“Very friendly staff who were incredibly helpful pointing out local attractions and helping us to book a taxi. The spa is lovely with a great view of the river. Quiet location but easy to walk to the main shrines.”

  • “The Host, Hiro-san, is exceptionally friendly and a Great Overall Host. He provides all the Information you need and the „free shuttle“ is to be taken literally! For every day he picked us up from the Train Station After the day trips visiting the local Area, also he drove us to the Train station the day we left the accomodation. On top, you can use the hot bath in the Cozy Inn as well as the kitchen. I can only recommend Cozy Inn. We would come back anytime!:)”

  • Safa's Guest House Review score: 10

“Host made a very good effort to keep the bugs out. The terrace was nice, and had a good spot for parking. House was clean and cozy, especially with the lighting. Host was attentive and cared about our stay.”

  • Stay Nikko Guesthouse Review score: 10

“We stayed at the house overlooking the river and loved it. The kids went upstairs and were impressed by all the cuteness. A very cozy but spacious enough home. Walking distance from both train stations and main town with busstop nr.3 and family market. Waking up with drip coffee at the riverside just from our doorstep made my holiday after all the city vibes. The owners were amazing too. Full of tips and prepared a hand written map for us. Nikko is a power spot. The trees! And nice and cooler in summer than the cities. We hiked from yamoto onsen south (downhill) the 6.2km hike. Very beautiful falls and hike through the wetlands.”

  • LEU Guest House Review score: 10

“I went to Leu to go hiking and to enjoy nature in Nasu Valley for a few days in July. Recently opened, it was clean, comfortable and despite having one of the small hostel rooms with a shared bathroom – extremely comfortable. There was a main area with a kitchen where you could make dinner, meet others staying at the hotel and also work if you work remote, like I do. I ended up extending my stay for several days. Kodai-san the owner went above and beyond to help me out as I didn't have a car and urgently needed to go to the post office one day, and get groceries another. His hospitality and kindness was above and beyond. The nature of the area was unlike anywhere I've ever been. Crystal clear rivers for wading and swimming in, studio Ghibli looking forests with thousands of dragonflies –– it was a dream! I will definitely come back.”

  • “We had wonderfull time in Gableview Forest Inn.Elisabeth and her husband took great care of us,way beyond the regular service. We received bunch of recommendations for the trips around and they were even driving us to the bus stop in the centre. The place has very special atmosphere, with three onsens-as we were the only guests at the time of our visit, they were at full disposal only for us. Definetely recommend!”

  • Nikko Guesthouse Sumica Review score: 10

“Futon beds, very clean, nice staff with a lot of recommendations”

  • “Sato (the guesthouse’s host) was incredibly welcoming and had everything you could ever need in the guesthouse, from shampoo and little snacks, to the best recommendations about what to do and where to go!!! The beds were super comfy and private, and the aircon was lovely and cool. There is a washing machine and area to dry your clothes which is a godsend for every traveller (very small fee for washing powder). The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and communal area is a nice space for guests to get to know one another.”
