“We had a very pleasant stay at Tanigawa Valley Lodge & Coffee Roastery. Our hosts were welcoming hosts, ensuring we felt comfortable throughout our visit. The lodge is well-kept, with a charming and cosy atmosphere that suits the area perfectly. We enjoyed our time here and would happily return. A lovely spot for a relaxing getaway, and we’d recommend it to others.”
“This is a fantastic hotel surrounded by nature (mountains, rivers and woods) and transpiring Japanese tradition. The hotel provides an excellent Onsen experience in a 300 year-old ryokan. The setup is essentially Japanese, so expect to sleep in futons, take off your shows and walk on slippers through tatami floor, and have Japanese meals (including breakfast). The kaiseki dinners are an absolute delight, and the outdoor onsen at night is the stuff of dreams.
One may feel a bit daunted by the itinerary to the hotel, but it is truly easy to get there. Taking the Aizu Revaty train from Asakusa to Yunishigawa Onsen you then catch a 15 minute bus which will drop you off in front of the Hotel. All this information was communicated by the hotel ahead of our stay. One important tip: plan to buy the train tickets before the day of your trip, because they can be sold out. I am not sure if these tickets are sold online, so the safest way to buy them in advance is to go the tourist office at Asakusa station.”
“If I could give 11 points, I definitely would! Best hotel of my life, by far. Should be a 5 star! The "room" is actually a super suite, in perfect Japanese style, big as an apartment, with a majestic view on the beautiful valley. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful, ready at every moment of the stay. The onsen is one of the best we've been, including the little annex garden outside. And the dinner! A multiple courses tasting of local cuisine, exceptional both in taste and in presentation, in a separate private room, with personal waiter. Same for the breakfast. If I would ever come back to Japan, the travel from Tokyo to Nikko would be worth only to come back to this hotel.”
“The hotel’s prime location within the train station makes it an excellent choice for travelers relying on public transportation. he rooms are described as cozy and comfortable, providing a welcoming retreat. The hotel’s design has a youthful, vibrant aesthetic, adding a fresh and modern appeal to the stay.”
“The staff, especially the front desk (a bit less the restaurant) - they really give you a 5 star treatment. The location of the hotel. The ramen in the evening. Easy parking. Quite nice breakfast, given the price.”
