  • Doany Beach Review score: 10

“Beautiful location with warm and friendly hosts. Our favourite stay of our trip - pictures don’t do it justice. It was peaceful and beautiful and the kids loved the easy access to the beach and the lemurs that came to say hello at dusk.”

  • Fleurs d'Ylang Review score: 7

“Staff were very friendly, specially Bri in the restaurant was excellent, providing excellent service and local knowledge.”

  • “The hotel has a perfect location right on the beach, with a palm tree in front that added an authentic atmosphere and vibes. The apartment we rented was the Chameleon, located on the second floor, and it was the perfect choice. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony at the end of the day, watching the life and activity on the beach. The place felt very safe, with security personnel at both entrances during the day and night. The first-floor apartments had surveillance cameras on the terraces, and there were cameras in the building’s corridors as well. The cleaning was perfect every day, if we chose to have it, and it was free of charge. The rooftop terrace at the back of the building was nice, although I found the breakfast prices in Madagascar to be quite high for what they offered (starting from €5 per person for a simple breakfast). The apartment had all the necessary amenities, it was spacious, and the layout was perfect. There’s a variety of restaurants on the beach. We tried several and were very happy with everything we ate.At night, the beach is very dark and full of dogs, but we never felt unsafe. We returned to the hotel around 10/11 PM, and it was always peaceful. The hotel provides loungers and a private space to relax and sunbathe. There’s a local bar next door, but we had read the comments beforehand and were prepared for potential parties and music at night. Everything went smoothly, and we rested well, waking up early for our boat tours, feeling fully refreshed. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms had mosquito nets. The bathroom was very practical, spacious, and well-organized. It’s rare to find so many shelves and places to store our things in a bathroom, but this one had great options for storage—next to the sink, near the shower, and plenty of other spaces to keep everything neatly arranged. At check-in, there was a bunch of bananas in the fruit basket and a welcome pineapple juice, which was a very nice touch after arriving tired.”

  • Manga Soa Lodge Review score: 4

“The lodge itself is beautiful. The room was stunning, with a spectacular view and attention to detail. Wonderful pool, cozy breakfast area and reception with sofas and board games. Breakfast was very good, especially the brioche bread. The staff were really nice and helpful: even if it was hard to communicate because of the language (a general issue in Madagascar), we really appreciated their kindness. We also had a wonderful massage: I don’t know the name of the girl, but for her alone I would have given a 10!”

  • BLUE VELVET Review score: 9

“Spotless, comfortable and very well equipped room. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. Go for sea view if you want to make the most of the hotel location”

  • Les bungalows d'Ambonara Review score: 7

“Rustic cabin style accommodation up some steep stone paved stairs. Mosquito net encompasses double bed plus upright fan. Small outdoor deck. Long narrow bathroom with stone paved walls and floor of shower. Good restaurant on premises and dinner menu was delicious flavours. Small swimming pool. About a 5 minute walk from a produce market and 10 to 20 walk to main Hellville town.”
