How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewEverything was great but the hosts were really outstanding. Very friendly, helpfull and really adding value to the stay. The house is fantastic in a beautiful garden and has all you need for your stay. But the Godiva and Jerome made the real difference.
Nothing bad. Only recommendation for future guests is that we advise to hire a car to join the island. The house is in a quiet and beautiful area but a bit remote.

Verified review5 out of 5, Wonderful stay at the Ngermid Oasis! We were VERY pleased with the experience and accommodations, very clean, comfortable, the grounds are well kept, secure (gated with in and out access always) the pool was clean, and the concierge services from our hosts, Godiva and Jerome, not only give you what’s known about the island, they even have packages, discounts and not well known tips that most are unaware of. They recommended a restaurant on the north side of the island stating it was the best food…NO LIE! Best grilled fish I’ve ever had! Went back for a second time before we went home! A must visit: Okemii Deli Cafe in Melekeok. They offer free WiFi service and the speed and range was better than expected. Godiva and Jerome are wonderful hosts and are communicative, no reasonable request is denied and when there is a request or question it is handled quickly. They checked on us daily to ensure our comfort making sure we were happy. Examples: + Since the unit has a kitchenette the can opener was not in the room. No problem, they had one delivered to our room inside of 5 minutes. + We needed a car rental we paid about $50/day with insurance (reasonable pricing and recommended, taxi services can add up quickly and I didn't see any ride share options) and had keys and contract in hand in 20 minutes. + Due to weather our airlines changed the flight times, no problem, they arranged transportation from the airport and our driver was waiting when we got there. I’ve stayed in literally hundreds of hotels and a handful of BnB’s for business and personal travel and I have to say this is the best experience I’ve ever encountered, excellent service and accommodations. Don't spend a ton of money in a hotel were you're just an occupant. Godiva and Jerome are great hosts and if we ever go back the choice is clear: Ngermid Oasis.
The review website is asking for what we “didn’t like” BUT this is not a didn’t like list, just a heads up if you’ve never been to Palau or the Ngermid Oasis before. + If you’re there for an extended stay they don’t have on site laundry facilities but they do have offsite services for a reasonable fee per load. Pickup and return was within one day, hand it over in the morning and it’s back same day, cleaned and folded. + Some have said that it’s “remote” which is a true statement, BUT this is a blessing. Completely away from the downtown area meaning it’s quiet especially at night. All you hear is nature and getting to town is about a 5 minute drive. There wasn’t anything we “didn’t like,” Ngermid Oasis and Godiva and Jerome far exceeded our expectations.

I also never needed to hesitate to reach out to them for recommendations for anything I wanted. Being able to rent a car directly from them was a plus as well, making my time in Palau especially great and convenient.
Not much! Anything that I felt like needed a change, I made a suggestion, and Jerome and Godiva made the changes as quickly and best they could!
