Too bad that the breakfast was so poor (no choice, cheap, no quality stuff) The comfort of bedrooms can be very different. I had first a large breezy lovely renovated room on the street with a fridge, and a small crappy room on an inside court with no fresh air the second night.

Just a fair warning, the breakfast has minimal options, the noise might bother some if your room faces the street, you’ll have to climb a set of stairs, and parking is limited in the immediate neighborhood (and is paid Monday to Friday….and might be limited to four hours during the day?). I parked my rental car in the free municipal lot near the playground at the bottom of Mount Brasil, a ten minute walk.

It is in a great location in the center of the Angra business area, just a two minute walk from the harbor. Our room was spacious and clean with three big windows that opened (with interior shutters to darken the room). As many others have mentioned, the value is high. This was one of the cheaper places we stayed in Portugal - when I pay €65 per night I have different expectations than when I pay twice as much. That being said, this was perfectly comfortable with a clean bathroom that had plenty of really hot water. The bed was comfortable and there was a mini fridge in the room; lots of closet space. There are many good restaurants in the area, I particularly liked Taberna do Teatro, Captain’s Table, and Tascas das Tias. For a light lunch or better coffee than you’ll get at the hotel breakfast, try Merceiras d’Angra (get their Dona Amelia cake, a molasses cake that’s a local specialty).

Honestly, there was nothing to improve. I think it was a great option in a great location for a competitive price. The rooms were fairly basic, but that is what I would expect for a budget friendly hotel.

The breakfast was very nice for a budget friendly hotel, and the whole property was very clean. The best part of the hotel was the staff- the customer service was outstanding and everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable. That personal touch was the reason I would highly recommend Hotel Ilha to any traveler.

The hotel is in a central street of Angra do Heroísmo, in a walking distance to the most relavant places, as the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Garden. It is also near the sea, making it easy to go to the beach. At the same time, it is surrounded by different kinds of restaurants, shops and near a book shop that is also a caffé. The room was nice and clean. Comfortable, though not too much. It was a nice place to arrive to at night for a good sleep. Breakfast was simple, but good. One could eat enough to go on until lunch time.

The bathrooms seem to be a bit old fashioned. Overall, everything is working perfectly, but they kind of contrast with the rest.

The room isolation was not so good and so you could hear the noises from the rooms close by.

We had a very pleasant stay but the bathroom could need some renovation. There was a request not to use the bathtub in case of overflooding. But you do want to shower.

The location is perfect, close to the marina with the favourite icecreams, the beach, very central. We also like the Donna Amalia cake for breakfast! Our room was on the streetside what gave nice views. The lady at the reception give well-informed information. Better than the tourist office actually! It is also possible to rent a car here, but we did not know that beforehand. Airconditioned room.

No space to store a toiletry bag at the sink. My little amount of toiletry staff (e.g. liquid for contact lenses) always fell on the ground. Not very user friendly.

Mattress was too soft for my liking. Front door is extremely noisy ...in the middle of the night it will wake you up. Breakfast could have a bit more variety if not everyday, every other day.

The only problem is that you have to pay for the parking of your car. The hotel does not have a car parking and we have to find a place nearby, which creates 2 problems: 1 - you have to pay while parked and 2 - finding a place may be troublesome and you might end up a bit far from the hotel.

The location is definitely a plus. You can basically walk everywhere and visit Angra without having to get your car or public transportation. Good facilities and the breakfast is better than expected.
