How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe thought the hotel itself was great. The room service was excellent. When we return to our room the room was thoroughly cleaned and the bed was made. Towels were replaced. We also liked we were in walking distance to the various restaurants and other stores. We also like the breakfast buffet which was really good.
The temperature in the room was a bit chilly and it also had a Musky smell in the the room. The hallways were extremely cold as well.

Booked the non pre payment stay, the hotel had a lot of hidden fees along with it that was not listed. (booking found a resolution)Breakfast was a waste, not good- not a lot of options if you don’t like pork or eggs. We only ate it once. The staff was good, not outstanding in friendliness or customer service felt like a bother when asking for local recommendations. We had one great interaction with a night manager on our last day. We had an issue with the remote that took hours and more than three calls to resolve.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was great on most days, I liked that the hotel was close to a lot of stuff. It was easy to get an Uber or walk to go get groceries
I paid for an ocean view room and I didn’t get that. The hotel is far from the ocean, technically there are no rooms with a clear ocean view, they just had me pay extra for nothing.

The room we had was roomy, but there was a smell that was horrible. I addressed with the front desk, and they sprayed the room. I sprayed the room, but the smell was still there, and it was just very unpleasant for the amount of money spent. Luckly, we were away most of the time to avoid the smell.

Close proximity to San Juan/major attractions and different beaches outside of Carolina; made it easy to get a rideshare, taxi, rental , etcetera to your destination….Many restaurants and local shops in the area. A lot of hotels with accessible shops and a casino across the street. A 24 hour pharmacy/supermercado within walking distance. Gave a great introduction to newcomers to the island (or Caribbean in general) because there’s a modern feel yet still a connection with nature—forestry and wildlife. Accessible and stylish bar and pool area. Nice amenities like a gym and mini grocery store. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast every morning that offers choices of cold or hot fresh items. All public and private areas clean. Size of our room was great. View was amazing. Cleaning service in our room was great. Majority of staff were very friendly overall. Drinks were delicious, bar food was adequately enjoyable. Sitting out by the pool was great, especially when it would rain on and off!—it provided a refuge when we still wanted to be outside. We even fell asleep sunbathing at one point!
They pitch a $45 “complimentary daily credit” to their store and bar/restaurant, but in reality it’s included in your final invoice whether you use it or not lol. Picking at straws here, but i wished our windows were a little cleaner. Although the facilities were clean and the room service staff were prompt and amazing with getting rooms tidied daily, THERE IS A MOLD SMELL on every floor where guests stay / where there are carpets. We didn’t know if it was coming from the vents and maybe the air vents aren’t cleaned or properly filtered???…but on the 1st/main floor there isn’t a smell—it actually smells quite nice and welcoming! *I* think it has something to do with the carpets installed on the 2nd+ floors because carpets tend to soak up moisture and smells. And I noticed stains on the carpets in the halls and our room. So somewhere the combination of the vents/HVAC and carpet causes a mildew/mold smell that gets a bit annoying for people with olfactory sensitivities and/or allergies—I definitely noticed a lot of people were sneezing and coughing when in the public areas. I won’t miss that! I would like to return to La isla del Encanto (PR), but idk if I can handle another stay at this hotel if that smell persists in the guest floors…
