How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe ate a La Cocina, the hotels restaurant. Food and service were good.
Parking was a bit chaotic but it worked out in the end. Instructions could be a bit more descriptive about that. Unless you are a very strong hiker, perhaps you should affirm to people that it is in their interest to rent a car, unless they only intend to take taxis to specific places (which is viable, lots of taxi companies, some info. about taxis would help too). If you don't mind a rigorous 1/2 mile walk, you can walk to Carlos car/cart rentals from the hotel, but you are better off either taking the free shuttle right as you exit the ferry, or booking in advance (like days in advance) to be sure. I got the last rental in the last hour of the day, I regret not pre-planning. Also- rent a real car. This island is way too hilly and the roads too bumpy for golf carts. Lot's of Jeeps, but a Venue would do you just fine, easier to park it.

Verified reviewRight up the road from the ferry, great views of the boat-filled bay, and amazing food at the downstairs restaurant. They also allowed us a late checkout for an additional fee.
The rooms don’t have a coffee machine

Verified reviewEverthing! We were having a difficult time at an Airbnb that had no hot water, soap, Internet, and the car we rented from the host had no speedometer, the back window wouldn’t stay up and had a little piece of paper shoved into it to keep it up, but it didn’t work. We were on a very steep hill the car stalled and lost power steering we almost had a fatal crash. At least the e brake worked! We were bound to a two day minimum stay and we got out of there as quickly as we could. We checked out El Navigante looking for a place to stay. That’s when we met Nania. We knew from the moment we met her that this was the place we wanted to stay. She was friendly, knowledgeable, gave us a map right away and told us about all the wonderful beaches as we love to snorkel. We were rattled by our BNB experience but within moments of talking to Nania, it all went away, She was our angel. The rooms were clean, the bed was great, and the view from our balcony was exceptional. Gratitude to all of the staff at El Navigante both in the hotel and the restaurant. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to come back. Julie and Rob

The only thing was the shower because of it’s floor tile slippery . just for safety
Thank you for your review and comments! We will check the shower floor as the tiles are the non-slip style. Maybe it was soap or conditioner on the floor. Thank you for letting us know!

Verified reviewI stayed at El Navigante in Culebra for 3 nights, and unfortunately, the experience was overwhelmingly negative. Upon arrival, the bed sheets were stained and had several hairs on them – clearly not properly cleaned. The ceiling had visible mold stains, and the entire room felt extremely damp and humid. Despite being a room for two people, the bathroom only had a single small bottle of shampoo and conditioner. There was no body wash provided. I had to ask the staff for more, and while they did respond quickly (which was the only positive aspect of the stay), it shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place. The location is decent, close to the port, but for the price paid, the quality and hygiene were absolutely unacceptable. The worst part of the stay was the cockroach infestation. During the first couple of days, we spotted several small roaches in the bathroom. But on the last night, we found a huge cockroach crawling around. It was absolutely horrifying – I even recorded a video as proof. We couldn’t sleep a minute that night. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable and disgusted in a hotel room. Overall, a terrible experience. I would absolutely not recommend staying here.

Verified reviewThe room smelled intensely of cleaning product - it was hard for me to sleep and there were no real windows to air it out !
Thank you for your review and comments. I apologize for the cleaning product smell but we do have to use Clorox products to disinfect the rooms from the previous guests as part of the cleaning procedures recommended for hotels and short term rentals. All of our rooms have operating windows as it is illegal not to have them, the windows are above the bed behind the blackout curtains.

Verified review- Convenient to ferry and airport. Both walking distance. - Self check in/out was easy to use. - Restaurant attached had pretty good food.
- Shower needs repairs. Very low water pressure and only had hot water briefly once throughout my entire stay.
Thank you for your review and comments! We are going to check the water pressure and temperature, thanks for letting us know.

Verified reviewGood location, clean rooms
Hot water is inconsistent, wouldn’t stay hot and we also had to kill a couple of big cockroaches
Thank you for your review and comments! I wished you would have told us about the roaches as we are on the lookout always by fumigating twice a month since we do have a restaurant too. In regards to the hot water, it is a little bit tricky but if you follow the instructions posted, it should be ok.

Verified reviewThey found a letter that had fallen out of my bag that was very important. And they kept it and I was able to retrieve it.
The shower thermostat was way off! Burning hot water or cold. I didn’t bug out bc I stayed one night and it was late when I was showering and it’s pointless to ruin everyone’s night for one night. But overall super clean great views.
Thanks for your review and comments!! We will look into the shower situation, thanks for letting us know.
