How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWhat I liked most was that the beach was within walking distance, and the location was very central, close to everything.
The place needs to be updated, especially the bathroom, which also requires an update. And it has a musty, moldy smell.

Verified reviewThis was such a great place to stay! The owner was very gracious and very accommodating it was very locally convenient to everything. Literally within steps to the beach the locals were fantastic but it was very secure and safe! I can't wait to go back next year!

Verified reviewThe location and price made this little studio PERFECT for our pre-cruise stay. The only thing between you and the beach is the pool. Although the view from the room is limited on the ground floor it was the thing we needed. The hostess, Eileen, was top notch. She communicated well before the trip and even checked on us and talked a with security when the island went under a tsunami advisory to make sure we were safe and knew what to do. The location was a short Uber ride from the airport. There’s a cute little beach bar (Lifeguards) with good food nearby. Eileen provided recommendations in Old San Juan also. We had no problem getting a tour pickup from the hotel either. The room isn’t the most sleek and modern but it’s clean and comfy. We’d definitely stay again.

Verified reviewVery dirty and smells. Around the microwave, balls of dust and impressive spider nets. The first floor means that you basically sleep on the side walk - - 3 meters from the bed, strangers walk to the beach (same level as the bed), so you are like behind a shop window and need to keep shades always closed. The "patio" is built like a jail cell to keep all these strangers out.
We thank all our guests for the stay and wish them all well. We are surprised by the comments as to the cleaning. We trust our experienced cleaning personnel and we usally stop by for quality control. We did before this rental and it was in order. It is difficult to overlook something that is fairly noticeable. There have been guests in and out and no similar comments have been made. The studio was cleaned several times that week. We may also say that it is always possible in a tropical island to have ocassional insects and also frequent coquís, which may be bothersome for guests not used to this type of environment. In fact, I have observed close to our car a little web made from night to morning. The studio is not described as a large studio. But the porch separates the living area where the bed is, from the common sidewalk. Outside, besides the common sidewalk in front of the studios, a path was laid out so residents and guests staying at other apartments in Marbella, which are not strangers from outside the complex, may walk to the beach and the common grounds, avoiding transit throuh the common sidewalk in front of the balconies. It has certainly diminished transit through the common sidewalk. Guests should be aware this is a condominium complex with other residents and guests having the same access to all the facilities. In this respect, like similar to regular hotels; it is not portrayed as a private house or as a place where only one apartment is occupied. The studio has double curtains, and the sheer light ones are practical,and/or convenient, for privacy during the day, without obstructing light and some view to the outside. As to the porch being enclosed with iron security grilles, it customqry in Puerto Rico for several reasons. In Marbella they are mandatory due to uniformity in design, as there is security 24/7 and cameras in strategic places. It is something out of our control and pictures of the porch are also provided in the description. Ours, may be opened for a feeling of openness and an unobstructed view. It is difficult that other residents or tenants would jump over the cement enclosure of the porch and enter the studio if they are open. The grilles have also been helpful to protect the apartments and their glass doors and windows during storms and hurricanes. Having communication open is important for both guests and hosts to take care of any concern that may come up. We understand guests from certain locations not used to this cultural and design difference may find it difficult to understand. When one travels, flexibility is important to make the experience more enjoyable and appreciate the good things every location has to offer.
