How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe property was clean and there was a pleasant swimming pool. Marilyn, the host was very helpful and pleasant. She tried to reduce the multiple inconveniences the best she could , lovely lady!
The location could not be worse. Middle of nowhere, no shops or any restaurants nearby. No motorbikes provided for guests, no info pack with emergency numbers, excursions , taxi numbers-just nothing. The owner was away in England . We were shocked by their unpreparedness to host international guests. TV not working, poor A/C, barely dripping calcified shower head…
We are terribly sorry that we fell short of your expectations, but I’m glad you enjoyed your time in Bohol. As you know, my wife & I are currently on holiday in the UK,& wasn’t available to address your concern’s. However we will return to Sparrows Nest on June 20 & be on hand to give our usual high standard of care & attention to each & every guest. I should add that Sparrows Nest is situated 5 minutes away from Panglao International Airport, 5 minutes away from the nearest beach, and just 10 minutes away from Alona night out area, full of bars and restaurants. Yes Sparrows Nest is situated down a track of 50 meters, easy access to all forms of transport, & although we are close to the major tourist hub of Panglao,we are far enough away to offer the peace & tranquillity of a stress free stay at Sparrows Nest.

Verified reviewEverything! Nice quiet location but also just a few minutes from the airport. Great breakfast every morning. The rooms were spotlessly clean and modern, and the bed was very comfortable. Rooms were a good size with a good-sized bathroom and shower. All in all, it is a fantastic place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The hosts were lovely people, and you'll feel right at home here.

Verified reviewVery nice hotel to stay. Paolo and Esther were very friendly and helpfulll. They will drive you to all places on Panglao Island on request for a very reasonable charge. Nice bar and swimmingpool inside the hotel's premisses and the breakfast was very good. We were delighted about the peacefull location and serenity within the hotel's area. Just a pearl on a crowdy island which we can strongly recommendate! Thanks guys and hope to see you again.
The road to the hotel from the main street is really bad but it's only a 50 meters drive and not part of the hotel. Barangay management seems to be not willing to do something about this.

Verified reviewAlthough not in the city center, this hotel offers incredible value. The room is not big, but we had a great sleep these few days, it was quiet and comfortable. A wonderful and gracious host, who is of great help to us, and you must tell him all your needs,for moto rentals, chartered tours and everything else, the prices she provides are reasonable and much better than what I could find on my own.I am very glad to have chosen this place. Every day I feel as warm as going home. Everything is the best arrangement.
You need to develop a relationship with the water heater and wait for more time for him to stabilize.

Pedro and Ester was very helpful with everything. He told us where we should visit and helped us renting scooter with a very good price. Breakfast was good.

The hotel was way better than expected and both Pedro and Esther were very very kind and willing to satisfy us in every way that they could. They knew and had tips/ suggestions/recommendations about everything we needed and were always very happy to discuss it with us! If we ever come back to Bohol for sure we will choose their hotel to stay again!
