Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesPart of the appeal for us was that it had crushed coral and rocks for the flooring. But not everyone might like that. This is authentic for how the Polynesians live so it was fun to immerse yourself in the lifestyle.
Beachside! Clean and spacious for family of three or four. Windows open all the way across the unit on both levels so it feels like you’re right up against the waves. Loved hearing the wind and waves rock me to sleep at night.

United KingdomWe liked everything.
The location was amazing, just a few yards from the Pacific Ocean and the weather every day was simply wow. The hosts Pierre and Motire were excellent and nothing was a problem. It was our first time to the island and they introduced us to it perfectly without us asking. We are DEFINITELY going back. Thank you so much P&M xxx

AustraliaTo be clear: not the host's fault. Since this is a bed and breakfast, you need to plan carefully your meals and take into account that there are only a handful of options available nearby and a small convenience shop which does not stock much really. If you are staying a couple of nights this is probably fine - most of the excursions in Rangiroa include lunch and snacks. If you are staying longer then you might want to plan ahead. You can always reach out to the host, and he will assist you as much as he can.
We were overall happy with the "fare" that we booked and with the breakfast included - house made bread, jams, fruits, juice. The fare is as clean as it can be I guess considering that you are literally in front of the ocean, the vue is amazing! Pierre is also a great host, he gave us a warm welcome to Rangiroa and helped us find some solutions for our meals. Very fast WiFi connection, which is a plus in a remote location. We would not hesitate to book again.

CanadaHonestly it’s hard to say.
Everything. The staff, the location, the value…hard to beat in Rangiroa. The location is right on the ocean, close to Tiputa pass, marina, restaurants, dive clubs…I felt like family the moment I arrived. The owners made sure I had everything I needed but also gave me privacy when I needed it. Any help I needed, they were there to help.

Pierre and Motire were just lovely and so helpful with booking excursions as well as even lending us the car one day! They went over and above. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The view was also incredible and we loved sitting on the deck looking at the stars. The location is fantastic and it was easy to walk or use a bike to get around.

United StatesNothing but a few words of advice to better choose this place. This is not a hotel, but a family managed bed and breakfast. You have your bungalow but you will interact with managers a lot. It’s more family style which is also great as you can learn about local culture. On Sundays all food places are closed besides hotels and Chez Josephine, so word of advice - book ahead of time. If it’s raining also ensure you eat early or everything will close.
In the pension, there are three bungalows that can be rented. Make sure you ask ahead of time the owners which one you’d be staying at as they are all different. One has a terrace, and one is by the ocean with coral floor but no AC and the third is where we stayed, view on the ocean from the window. The facility is very clean, the managers make it super comfortable to stay there. They cater to every detail, are very friendly, happy to organize everything and offer all help if anything is needed. There are two cute cats on the property. You can rent an electric scooter to move around and the mini kitchen is stuffed with many drinks and fruits plus utensils and plates. They also make you breakfast and fresh fruit juice and jams. Also highly recommend to try dinner at the neighboring Kia Ora hotel on reservation - it’s a truly great experience although pricey. Highly recommend this place!

United StatesThe host is still figuring out a few things but it's largely compensated by efforts to make the stay enjoyable and by their responsiveness.
Breakfast was made fresh every morning, including freshly baked bread, jam, and fruits. Coffee was provided too. The location on the island was perfect for all the main activities, from excursions to snorkeling in the lagoon to scuba diving. The host was helping organizing activities for us and the other guests, sometimes at the last minute, which is how it works over there anyway. The room itself has everything you need for that kind of stay. Nights were hot (we were there end of December to early January) but the room has AC if needed, which we was barely needed thanks to the fans. The host had some snorkeling gears that we were able to borrow.

United StatesPierre and motire went above and beyond to make sure our 3day stay went well. We were there during the new year holiday so a lot of places were closed. Pierre booked both the tour excursions for us plus also arranged a couple of dinners that he cooked with finesse. Breakfast and airport transfers were great. Rangiroa is a great place to go if ure into diving and snorkeling. The place is oceanfront and there is a constant breeze so we did not feel the need for ac.

United StatesIt was indicated that our room included breakfast, but for each of our three mornings there this included only a few pieces of bread and a box of juice. No fruit or any bit of protein. This is compounded by the fact that restaurants in this part of Rangiroa are very, very few in number and - except for an expensive resort that is nearby - are more than 1km walking distance. And no grocery of any kind close by.
The design of the room was unique and charming, with many nice touches. Well-appointed with many small appliances. Good water pressure in the shower. The on-site staff was very pleasant and helpful.

United StatesI would give this place 10 stars. It is ocean front, the view is splendid. You fall asleep while listening to the ocean waves crushing to the shore. It is very breezy and not too hot. The host (Pierre) is very attentive and he booked blue lagoon tour for us and tried to line up other activities for us. Airport pick up and drop off is included. Island breakfast (homemade bread, fresh fruits, milk, juice). You can walk down to the coral beach to watch sunrise. This property has many comfortable chairs and tables scattered around for people to sit outside, very relaxing. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

United KingdomThe host was exceptional in every way. He went an extra mile to make our stay memorable. He met us at the airport, gave us a tour of surrounding area, organized daily trips to some of the most remarkable areas on the atoll, and even gave us his personal snorkeling equipment to use. The house itself is located right on the ocean shoreline - the thunder of massive waves crushing on the reef is a constant presence. This creates a remarkable unforgettable atmosphere any other accommodation would struggle to replicate.

Proximity to Tiputa Passe, food shops, dive center and the views and sound of the ocean. The manager Pierre is so kind and a really interesting person to talk to. He will also arrange everything for you, from excursions to making reservations. Go to Pensione Cecile for their Polynesian dinner and entertainment Fresh local fruits provided is a luxury and included with excellent bread and coffee.
